Discussion: Judge Slams Trump Admin For 'Losing Several Hundred Parents'

Considert donating to the ACLU. They are providing excellent legal challenges to the out of control gutting of Constitutional protections and much more.

We upped our monthly contributions to the ACLU, PP, SLPC, MSF, and a whole host of other “lefty” organizations as soon as the craven orange monster “won” the election.

This situation is far too tragic to make light of, but even in the horror of it all, I am reminded of Osar Wilde’s famous quip from The Importance of Being Earnest, which in this context is strangely more appropriate than in the play, “To lose one parent, Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness.” (Perhaps we can update it to suggest that to lose several hundred is positively criminal.)

Merica!!!

“I can’t imagine anything closer to torture than to send these parents back home to their countries and having to live the rest of the lives knowing that just because they got confused or felt pressure that they gave away their child by mistake.”

The Trump administration is unspeakably cruel, inhumane, and incompetent. Imagine handing Infants and children over to HHS, an agency that doesn’t communicate with DHS, the agency that cages or deports the parents! Republicans are well-versed in stove-piping. Remember the intelligence stove-piping by order of Dick Cheney before the invasion of Iraq? Halliburton (Cheney) and Blackwater (Erik Prince) were in Iraq so quickly it took my breath away. Trump is nothing new, and none of us should be surprised. He’s the apotheosis of the GOP machine.

These people – I consider them subhuman – are truly evil.

An official judicial finding of bureaucratic incompetence… An inevitable by-product of any policy that Stephen Miller touches. His mother must be so proud!

Investigative journalists are finding a pretty fetid reality. Nevertheless, people are still not out in the street over family separation, sexual and physical abuse of children or even the apparent loss of children. Where this changes perhaps is with a documented case of a child sold for whatever purpose. At that point, the government has descended into human trafficking, a legacy from which there is no path to rehabilitation.

I do. Regularly.

wasn’t Azar the dipshit who testified that everything and everyone was in a database and he was just a mouseclick away from reuniting kids with parents??

If so we start with that bastard and just keep throwing more and more of them in the hoosegow until the job is done.

When the judge first ordered the reunification of these families I asked and what happens when the administration fails to do it in the allotted time? I read “Oh! Constitutional Crisis!” And here we are, here is the extent of this “constitutional crisis”. Families broken and destroyed and tossed in divergent directions with little hope that all will be made whole. And tomorrow is just another day.

I remember Elizabeth Holtzman from Watergate, in the House of Representatives.

Judges often want a problem corrected. I cannot blame them for that although I want to see this egregious behavior to have consequences.

Yep, they are really dong fantastic work on this issue. We switched from yearly to (slightly higher) monthly donations. Money well spent!

The whole point of what the trump admin did with these kidnappings and forced separations was to lose these kids in the system permanently. The trump admin wants to cause as much cruelty as possible. They think that will stop anyone else from ever coming here. Trump hates all immigrants, especially if they have brown skin. If they are from Norway and are exceedingly white well maybe some slack will be cut.
Trump was happy babies were in jail. Don’t forget that. Public pressure made him change a little bit. But his intent is still to do as much damage as possible to those already caught in our bureaucracy.

Which makes me wonder what he planned on doing with the “tender age” kiddoes. I mean a 16 y/o can pretty face a judge and claim asylum but not a child under 10 can. And I still worry about the large unaccompanied group, what happens when those turn 18?

AND those parents do not have much money to fly back to the US to collect their children. Is DHS going to advance their airfare? This is intolerable.
