Discussion: Judge Rips Govt's 'Unacceptable' Arguments On Family Separations

I hope these folks are about to discover one of the cardinal rules of court: never look a judge in the eye and say, “Make me.”

Time to place some administration people in custody until their parentage can be conclusively determined.

The comments from the judge are moving in the right direction.

But it’s time for someone (multiple people) to be held in contempt of the court.

Related: Has anyone else noticed that in all of the reunions to date the children appear zombie-like? It’s fairly obvious these kids are being drugged right up to the time they are released.

When DOJ attorney Scott Stewart attempted to mollify Sabraw by inviting him to visit one of the shelters holding the children in person to see that they are “being well cared for,” Sabraw curtly responded that he was missing the most important factor in the case.

Throughout this nightmare, the maladministration and its stooges have repeatedly argued that the children were being given food, education, and various other things, as if that somehow made the whole situation okay.

But we do that much for convicted murderers in prison.

It’s as if a kidnapper argued that no crime was committed because he didn’t actually starve the victim to death.

Sabraw said the administration was behaving as if they were in a “bubble” by insisting on those vetting steps, accusing them of having “a fundamental misapprehension of context of this case.”

It’s called Willful / Calculated Obtuseness.

People caught doing evil things trying to perpetuate the evil while explaining away both prior evil and continuing evil.

Had an immigrant family over for hamburgers and hot dogs Sunday. We had a great time, mostly talking about soccer and our kids and grand-kids. When the talk turned serious, they revealed how scared they are and how many in their community are. They are undocumented Americans with 3 American born children. Heart-rending - I wanted to apologize for my country but I realized that would be as useless as earrings on a pig. We just hugged and promised to do it again soon.

Very possibly; there’s reporting to that effect. But don’t underestimate the impact of sheer emotional trauma: some children are reported to believe their parents had actively abandoned them, making for some unbearably heartbreaking reunions. Imagine the agony of those parents; imagine the lifelong scars in these children’s psyches. We are governed by monsters.

As soon as they’re released, these poor, abused children should have blood tests to see if the government has been drugging them. The trauma they are enduring will last the rest of their lives. Trump is a despicable tyrant.

I’m embarrassed that this post has been up for three hours, and I am just now reading it.

OTOH, democrats can only keep pointing out this completely cruel behavior by the Trump administration.

Vote. Please.

So they lost the parents of 71 children. We also need to know how many parents are missing children.

Who devised this clusterfuck in the first place?

You mean besides Trumpp?

And unfortunately, I heard a tape of Latino Social Workers encouraging the children being held in NYC to lie to lawyers and investigators. So I am not confident that the people these children have been placed with all over the country are devoid of God complexes, condescending racism, or political agendas. They have probably been in the care of a lot of unenlightened people.

What is a ‘wretched hive of scum and villainy, Alex?’

Why doesn’t Sabraw just lock up the GOP lawyers and hold the DOJ in contempt?

Lock them up.
