Discussion: Judge Rejects Trump Bid To Change Rule Limiting Time US Can Detain Immigrant Children

“Cynical” is far too mild a term to describe what Trump/his minions are doing.

Try “inhuman;” It’s more accurate.

This is a tiny bit of good news. God bless (I’m not that religious, but . . . ) those ACLU lawyers who keep fighting for fair treatment of immigrants.

“U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee says the effort attempts to foist responsibility on the court for the president’s “ill-considered” action and Congress’ failure to take action.”

Wish she could write all the Democrats’ campaign slogans!

Don’t be surprised if the Drumpf Crime Syndicate simply defies the court and essentially asks, “What’ll you do about, judge?” We’re living in a time of total collapse of the social trust. This could be a “draw a line in the sand” moment. I guess defying a court order has some consequences under normal circumstances, but this could be a show down where the DOJ claims activist judges have done enough and it’s time to just tell the court to “f off”. Of course, Drumpf’s base would love it.

The longer this drags out the worse it is for the GOP. Get those kids back with their parents, NOW. And yes, I am shouting.

This is utter bullshit on the administration side. You concocted, implemented, and ultimately planned poorly. It’s time start the head rolling, metaphorically. Lock up Azar, Scott, and Wagner from HHS. Lock up Nielsen, and the heads of CBP, and ICE. Then move on to Sessions and Miller.

Here you see it, unmasked, in all its ugliness. America has fallen into the maw of a vile person who can stand with someone he wishes to create as a Justice of the Supreme Court, and out of the other side of his face, practically at the same instant, stand up thru his enablers and minions in a court of law in a cowardly attempt to strip justice, human rights and human dignity from people who cannot defend themselves.

No one who truly believes in Justice could or should allow themselves to be submitted to The Supreme Court while the shadow of torn apart families casts a long shadow on American Justice.
Not for the first time, nor I fear, for the last, my stomach turns, and I am sickened to the depth of my life and soul that Americans are about to allow these two events to coincide.
Both of these monstrous events occur in the name of the American people, whose “Government” orchestrates them.

Where are the people? Why are the streets not filled with rage at injustices so blatant? Why are there no strikes, no stoppage of labor, no direct and peaceful actions to challenge these horrors?
I once saw Americans put a stop to an unjust war in a far off Asian land.
Where are Americans today?
How far we have permitted ourselves to fall and who do we take down with us as we ourselves fall?
Americans can fill the halls and offices of Congress with protest when the idea is driven home that they are being forced to give up something that is their own. Their “safety net,” their medical care, and everything else that sets forth their just and legitimate rights to be treated as Human Beings.

Where are these same people NOW?

All of these terrible things are being done in their names.
Any American who remains silent and passive in the face of such injustice grants endorsement and rectitude to these abominations and those who perpetrate them.
If “Men” like the Great Orange Pretender have their way, the courts will no longer be the last refuge of liberty and human decency against injustice.

That last refuge has to be the people themselves. For this to become so, All of us must act, all of us must speak out, and be certain we are heard, and as masters of our own Government, obeyed.
And it must be all of us, or none of us will be free for long.

Maybe on second thought we should just detain them until we know what the hell the administration had going on.
