Welcome. As you settle in and learn about your new home, you should know that in Texas it is customary to honor the most stupid people by electing them to political offices.

I donā€™t know if 1/2 of America even knows what country the are in. It is almost as if all the ā€œoriginalistsā€ have not studied the origin history nor the origin document and laws of the country.

But hey I guess itā€™s the ultimate victory when you can manipulate your base to basically believe whatever suits your need. Itā€™s 1984 except completely the voluntary version chosen by the people, not enforced by a government. Which actually is much more horrific than the original story.

The judiciary should realize by now that Teabaggers only use the Courts to try to delay the inevitable. They are not particularly interested in justice; just in getting their own way. When you have rulings against them THIS prompt, hereā€™s what happens:

Bang that gavel, judge.

There are only two possibilities:

  1. Abbott got a sliver.
  2. Abbott crapped his pants on teevee.

From the Dallas Morning News on this topic:

Texas Attorney General Kenneth Paxton made the second request today on behalf of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission in fresh court filings in Dallas, citing evidence that includes statements that ā€œterrorist organizations have infiltrated the very refugee program that is central to the dispute.ā€

The judge zeroed in on the issue of irreparable harm in his denial. It reads: ā€œThe Commission argues that terrorists could have infiltrated the Syrian refugees and could commit acts of terrorism in Texas. The Court finds that the evidence before it is largely speculative hearsay.

ā€œThe Commission has failed to show by competent evidence that any terrorists actually have infiltrated the refugee program, much less that these particular refugees are terrorists intent on causing harmā€¦ā€

ā€¦about 21 Syrian refugees are expected to be settled in Dallas and Houston by the end of the week. In Dallas, a family of six refugees from Daraa, Syria, settled into an apartment Monday afternoon. The rest of the refugees are headed to the Houston area, court filings indicate.

Can we call him ā€œGovernor Gromettā€ now?

More like governor Wallace (somehow fitting) - Gromit is the smart one. They are both good hearted people (Wallace and Gromit), Gromit being a dog not a person, and both being made of clay.

            ! Double --- S M M M ack !

I canā€™t refer to him that way. Iā€™m old enough that ā€˜Governor Wallaceā€™ can only mean one thing:

Mm, it would be if it had a caption.
Seriously, could someone explain this to me? TNR does the same thing. Do journalism schools teach that photo captions are uncool nowadays or something?

Bear in mind the judge here was nominated by Dubya. Weā€™re now at the point where each of the ongoing Clown Car Race and the House Republican Caucus is significantly less intellectually capable, emotionally restrained, and constitutionally sensitive than the worse U.S. president since, undeniably Harding, probably the white supremacist, repulsive, and nasty Andrew Johnson, and possibly ever.
