Discussion for article #223109
Finally a story from the AP with no BS, no false equivalency.
TL;DR. Something something Conyers. I’ll wait for the ICYMI.
Here’s the Judges order.
Hey AP? What material is copyrighted? A single sentence?
Friday afternoon news dump, indeed.
I can’t believe I read the whole thing. (You’d have to be my age to get that.)
And I am proudly of that age.
I am delighted to hear this.
Okay, the Judge is saying the requirement that petition circulators can only collect signatures from the city or township where they’re registered to vote violates the 1st Amendment and the way it was worded makes the whole registration statute invalid therefore the signatures are valid.
There were an awful lot of people filing briefs to keep him off the ballot. There’s probably a story as to who was behind those briefs.
This is one congressman who will not take no for an answer.
If you can’t win legitimately, you try and win by making sure your biggest competition isn’t even on the ballot, no?
I smell a Koch connection.
Messing with Dem primaries? Hell you say.
Thanks for posting that link, Dor. I read the order, and it was very enlightening. Yet another attempt to keep a Democrat out of office.
Wow, information overload.
DETROIT (AP) — Judge puts US Rep. John Conyers on primary ballot.

Seriously? Can AP really copyright one very short sentence stating a simple fact?
I mean, honestly, the copyright notice is twice as long as the article.
The entire story:
Judge puts US Rep. John Conyers on primary ballot.
Wow–that’s a lot to digest…could you edit that down a little?
Absolutely correct. If your opponent cannot do the Politics 101 thing of collecting signatures to get on the ballot, you try to get him/her off. And who is the most prominent person to ever do this? Obama. He won his first seat in the IL HOR by contesting nominating petitions and getting his opponent removed.
Conyers has been in office for many years. I have no sympathy for him. The most basic thing in politics is getting on the ballot, and you have to do this correctly. I ran for office, and they told me to get 2x the number of needed sigs. I did that. This is simple stuff, and Conyers has no excuses for his failure to do it. He’s old and senile, and should retire.
Thanks for the entertainment. I’m only disappointed you didn’t work drones, Benghazi, Snowden and Greenwald into your answer.
