Discussion: Judge: People On No-Fly List Must Have Due Process

Discussion for article #224320

It’s going to take decades to claw back some of the civil liberties we foolishly surrendered after 9/11 (and before that - but 9/11 marks a real turning point). Unchallengeable no-fly lists, indefinite detention in Gitmo without criminal charges or a trial, warrantless surveillance (sorry, boys, but a rubber stamp by some secret Star Chamber doesn’t pass muster), etc., etc., ad nauseam.

Glad to see it’s at least getting under way.

My dad was on the no fly list because he shares a name with an IRA terrorist. He found out when he was pulled out of line by a security detail. He did successfully get off of the list, but it took years of effort. Plus, being white, Catholic, and American-born probably helped in that effort. I imagine it is neigh-on impossible to do if any of those adjectives do not apply to you.
