I take comfort in the knowledge that, despite Manafort’s fighting tooth and nail, he is already in prison and his decades-long career of installing evil men is over.
he knows perfectly well that there’ll be no favorable judgement on this or any other matter - he’s just looking for an excuse to wear a suit.
O/T but this should get interesting
The Federal Aviation Administration halted flights into La Guardia airport in New York City on Friday amid a shortage of air traffic control staff, according to multiple reports.
The partial government shutdown has impacted air traffic controllers, who are deemed essential workers and have to work without pay.
Newark and Philadelphia reportedly are also stopping all incoming flights, according to Bloomberg.
We need the falling dominos gif, stat!
having been ordered by the judge to attend, wearing a dark suit.
Now that’s interesting. Manafort has made an issue of his dress anytime he’s had to come (or was ordered) to court, when any other incarcerated person would appear in his jail clothes. In at least one past appearance this judge has not make an exception and he appeared in his lovely orange jumpsuit. This time she did make an exception. Here’s how I read it: She doesn’t believe a word he says, but is bending over backwards to leave no foothold for his attorneys to claim prejudice as exhibited by her humiliating him by having him appear in his jail garb. Interesting.
A meaningless story.
TPM should proofread the articles; at least run the Word processor grammar check.
I’m certain the materials and alleged fraud abuse are all very complicated, however, it also sounds like the judge hasn’t done all her homework on the case.
Criminy! I’m scheduled to fly to DC via Chicago on Mon. and fly back later in the week. Offspring is getting some sort of major award and I’m invited to the ceremony. Seriously wondering if a) the flight will go on Mon. and b) what are the chances I’ll be able to get back on the return flight? Without functioning air flights, it takes several days to travel from one coast to the other.
“signalling she wanted to have a full hearing about the allegations that Manafort lied.”
And there’s a reason Manafort’s attorneys kept arguing no such evidentiary hearing was necessary and that the judge should just make her decisions without holding one.
Don’t be fooled by the superficial analyses. This is a fantastic result.
To be fair to Paulie, he wore a much more stylish green jumpsuit, standard issue for federal prisoners. And he was wheeled in due to his suffering from gout and a marked lack of sympathy.

Go anyway.
- It’s not every day you get to see your kid on a podium.
- Your travel arrangements may get trumped, but that’s how adventure happens.
