Chris Meekins, deputy assistant Health and Human Services secretary for preparedness and response, filed a declaration that he is fully committed to meeting the deadline. However, he does not believe “the placing of children into such situations is consistent with the mission of HHS or my core values.”
So Chris Meekins was a Chief of Staff for which Congresscritter? Advised on Health Policy to whom? How does a former employee of an investment bank research analyst on healthcare and insurance know anything about kids?
And dude you needed to state “my core values” as “my sincerely held beliefs,” you broke with the agreed upon verbage.
“It is clear from Mr. Meekins’s declaration that HHS either does not understand the court’s orders or is acting in defiance of them,” the judge wrote…
But, ignorance of the law is no excuse, right!
With the civil rights movement, the federal government enforced court orders. Who is going to enforce them if the trumpies tell the courts to piss up a rope? And that is not meant to be snark.
“It is clear from Mr. Meekins’s declaration that HHS either does not understand the court’s orders or is acting in defiance of them,” the judge wrote late Friday.
This is a tough call for me. This Administration is comprised, top to bottom, of morons wholly ignorant of law, history, or really anything, but they’re also malicious criminals flouting laws and norms. Shall we just say both and let him keep poor lonely Manafort company?
Ok on another note they found the one Trump political appointee that thinks he knows how to vet, the value of vetting, but doesn’t understand a court order.
Trumptards do not give a shit.
To paraphrase Jackson: Judge Sabraw has made his decision, now let him enforce it.
Yeah thats kind of what I am afraid of.
There was a disconcerting Op-Ed in the WaPo yesterday, written by a person who was a colleague of Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh on the Starr Commission, that essentially said: (a) if Mueller were to subpoena Trump, then (b)Trump would ignore the subpoena which © would set a bad precedent, therefor, Mueller should not subpoena Trump. The same pathetic logic applies here. A lawless president will act lawlessly, therefor treat him as if he is above the law so you don’t expose the fallacy that we are “a government of laws and not of men.”
Our kidnapper-in-chief is now playing another game of “Make Me”: Make me return these children that I have been abusing and hiding in secret concentration camps!
“Make Me” is a favorite game of the criminal GOP, used earlier in the theft of a Supreme Court seat.
Tip for any Federal Judge out there: You can safely assume bad-faith on the part of this Administration. To paraphrase a certain Republican president, Don’t Trust and Get Extra Verification.
They’re stone walling. What sanctions – effective ones – could the court apply?
Anyone know?
We probably have some showdowns coming on a couple of fronts in between now and the end of August (when Mueller looks like he’s aiming to get the next round of Special Council work done by).
Not a tough call at all.
They are willfully defying the court’s order.
Mr. Meekins since your core values permit child-stealing how about you just follow the rule of law and leave your demented fantasies out of it?
Oh, and by the way, can you tell me if all ICE personnel have been checked against the Sex Offender registries?
A U.S. Marshal, I think. This judge sounds annoyed enough that those representing HHS in court should probably be sure to bring a toothbrush, just in case.
“At a minimum, it appears he is attempting to provide cover to defendants for their own conduct in the practice of family separation, and the lack of foresight and infrastructure necessary to remedy the harms caused by that practice.”
If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck…the judge is being very generous here in using the word “appears.” A blind person could see through this charade. I don’t expect we’ve heard the last of this.
I am not sure the crackhead elf and the DOJ would send one.
Understand thid Judge…the trump people are defying you. They think they’re above any law cuz Kavanaugh said so.
Plain and simple. So please act accordingly. There are certain trump folk who need to be shown the error of their ways. Alex Azar for one.
