Mr. Manafort is deserving of nothing less than true, traditional American justice:
A fair trial and a fair hangin’.
LOL. Predictable. Venue shopping isn’t going to work.
Hey, Paul…the time for venue shopping is when you’re deciding which jurisdiction to commit the crime in.
IANAL, but apparently have watched enough TV law shows to guess the judge’s reasoning before reading the article.
Manafort’s legal team’s efforts to date haven’t been inspiring.
Womp womp.
For an innocent man, Paul M sure doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to get himself cleared in court…
I guess Judge Ellis does want this case.
“Read the judge’s order below…”
Yeah. Kind’a made a bad case on that one too, partner.
This is really bad news for Manafort. This prosecution is being conducted in the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. His next trial will be conducted in the District Court for the Southern District of New York.
He was really hoping to take his show on the road first to Roanoke, followed by Wytheville, South Boston (VA), Franklin, and ending with Le grand spectacle in Norfolk.
If all went well, he hoped to take it to Peoria, Illinois before heading to New York. He knew if it played in Peoria ….
Manafort would do better to be planning a plea deal ASAP. If that doesn’t work just plead guilty and take your lumps. He comes off as a desperate and deranged man at this point.
That it was.
Richard Rodgers used to say he wouldn’t open anything, not even a can of tomatoes, except in Boston first.
Someone suggest this to Manafort, please.
“Womp womp”
Rat out the Orange Monster while you have the chance, Paul.
I was thinking just the other day about Richard Rodgers’ indictments in not one, but two(!) Federal District Courts.
IIRC both charges were for abetting the transportation of earworms across state lines. His defense attorneys climbed every mountain and he was eventually exonerated, telling prosecutors “So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye.”
Paul needs to refile ASAP ! …
Just tell the judge you forgot an apostrophe ’ ’ or two —
Yes, please do. We have a fabulous jury pool here just clamoring to string him u…I mean, sit on his jury. Feel free to send him our way anytime!
To those Maddow watchers out there: isn’t this the ruling that they said was being postponed to Monday?
I believe his next trial is scheduled for mid-September in US District Court for the District of Columbia.
However, your point still holds.
