âNobody challenges prosecutions under the APA.â
I wouldnât call that âskeptical.â
Iâd call that: âGet your sorry ass out of my courtroom.â
Is there a âdirectory of really really bad lawyersâ that everybody who has ever associated with tRump, the tRump campaign, the tRump WH, and the Executive is required to hire from? Maybe with the possible exception of Kushner?
Manafort is looking a little puffy these days. I guess it is normal to put on weight when sitting around all day making up excuses to try and get out of criminal indictments. Not even a nice try, Pauly.
âNobody challenges prosecutions under the APA,â Jackson said while questioning Downing. âDo you have case that supports this?â
Downing later said he did not know if he had such a case.
âJudge Appears Skeptical Of Manafortâs Civil Lawsuit Against DOJ, Mueller.â
Funny thingâSo am I.
Sheâs also the one who sentenced Alex van der Zwann yesterday. Her comments in that sentencing hearing do not bode well for Manafort, either.
Wait, all his fancy lawyerinâ is just a big ink-cloud of bullshit?
Shocked, I am.
How long until his lawyer imitates Emily Litella - âNever mindâ.
I guess âonly the bestâ applies not only to who Trump hires, but who those people hire also.
Itâs like a six degrees of incompetence festival.
That Donald knew nothing about.
Now, SyriaâŚ
Oh snap. Judge Amy channeling her best Judge Judy. Go on witâ your bad self.
This is probably going to be a brutal order. She doesnât strike me as the kind of judge who does âscathing,â but I donât know that. But even if she does the âlet me show you how ridiculous you were by taking everything you said perfectly seriously and then dispatching itâ order, itâs going to be humiliating.
I have not the slightest sympathy for himâand I feel sympathy for Melania for gawdâs sakeâbut Manafort is never going to flip. Not when Putin went to so much trouble to send him, very personally, a âI wonât just kill you, Iâll kill your daughtersâ message.
I guess if youâve got the money for lawyers you throw up any defense no matter how unlikely it is to work.
âŚfor now
Exactly. I was going to post that âskepticalâ was an extremely polite word for what the Judge was probably feeling.
This lawsuit is closely bordering if not crossing the line into being frivolous. The premise seems to be that a criminal defendant has some legal right to say which prosecutor within the Justice Department or which unit within the Department may prosecute him or her. No wonder the judge is skepticalâIâm surprised she isnât considering sanctioning the lawyer who filed this silly motion.
The only defense they have is a whole lotta whining.
Iâm starting to think that when Boss Tweet said weâre âgoing to be sick and tired of winning,â what he really meant was that weâd be sick and tired of all the whining.
A scheduling conflict kept Manafort from using his regular attorneys, Burnham Quick & Hyde.
Currently, heâs using Trumpâs recommendation, the legal firm of Dunning & Kruger.
But Putin is said to be pushing his go-to favorites, Kalashnikov Polonium & Novichok.
Sneed had a great writeup in January about Jacksonâs frustration with Downing. Itâs behind the firewall here, but MSN reprinted it here. Iâm going to go ahead and paste two of my favorite moments of candor from Jackson:
(1) âYour position has changed two times since you stood up.â
(2) âIâm not entirely sure how you can say what you just said.â
