The blue wall is alive…and corrupt.
Another travesty of justice…Same shit different day
Wonder how much money was in the envelope ?
At least the actual shooter got convicted, which makes this an extremely rare case. Obviously there is ONLY the video to thank for that.
When there is a police shooting, those reports write themselves. “The suspect continued to resist, the suspect made a menacing gesture, the suspect made a sudden movement, the suspect appeared to be reaching for a weapon” - it is basically fill in the blanks to try to fit the situation.
The report you will never see - “The suspect was compliant with everything he was told to do and suddenly my crazy ass partner started shooting him for no provocation whatsoever.”
Remember in the olden days? They used to blame Angel Dust. Said it gave a perp almost superhuman strength & aggression. Yet could not be found by laboratory tests, only ‘officer observation’. Neat, huh?
The judge rejected prosecution arguments that the video demonstrated officers were lying when they described McDonald as moving even after he was shot. She repeatedly stated that McDonald was moving after being hit by the first few bullets and refused to relinquish the knife.
The video appeared to show the teen > collapsing in a heap after the first few shots and moving in large part because bullets kept striking his body for 10 more seconds.
I wonder how many videos of someone actually being shot has this judge viewed? This lack of knowledge and her contention is the same shit when officers say “he kept resisting”, while not acknowledging the fact there were 4-5 officer piled onto the suspect all pulling and pushing on the suspect’s body.
He’s clearly moving from the impact of the shots. What’s next? Blaming the victim for traumatizing the officers and giving them PTSD because his body kept jerking from being shot?
From the Chicago Trib:
Some defense attorneys who practice at the criminal courthouse at 26th Street and California Avenue grumble that as a former prosecutor, Stephenson, like many judges in the building, is too quick to give police officers the benefit of the doubt. Others have raised eyebrows at the fact that Stephenson’s friend and former colleague in the state’s attorney’s office, James McKay, is defending March.
But those who best know Stephenson — who goes by the nickname Minnie — say she is fair-minded and up to the challenge.
And those who heard of Stephenson for the first time immediately recognized that she’s an idiot. Somehow that fact about the judge Stephenson just cannot be hidden. No matter how much she conspires. Hmm…
Van Dyke convicted of 2nd degree murder?? Seriously??? In this country can a cop be convicted of 1st degree murder? What would that look like? What would it take beyond eight bullets in the back of a teen-ager? Mary, mother of God in a chicken basket with fries!!!
The most dangerous people in our country are police. They routinely kill innocent citizens and are virtually never held accountable. Of course, this is how governments want it; citizens terrified of being killed, so they err on the side of never doing anything that could involve police. But, keeping black people constantly in fear, broke, powerless and compliant is the true core mission of police. White Power wants blacks to never get the idea of possessing power or self-determination. Cops are there to make sure of it.
“I struck the suspect on the head with my baton. I then noticed that he had the glassy-eyed, distracted look of someone under the influence of PCP.”
