Discussion: Joy Reid's Lawyer Says FBI Investigating Alleged Blog Hacking

IMO this is exactly the way this should proceed.

Why in the hell is the FBI involved in Joy Reid’s fricking blog hack affair? There must be hundreds of thousands of hacks into all manner of person’s personal blogs, bank accounts, Facebook, school records, work records, etc. Every day. She gets the assistance of Federal law enforcement, um, why? (Alleged) skeevy attempts to paint her as homophobic merit Federal intervention? WTF?

joy reid is a major national media figure. if someone is hacking into her account for political reasons, that’s something the FBI definitely ought to be interested in.

if her claims of hacking can’t stand up to FBI scrutiny, then she really fucked herself with this nonsense and should have owned up to it from the start.

this reflexive defensiveness is embarrassing.

Because it could be a state actor looking to discredit America news media personality.

I doubt they would of lied to the FBI if she wasn’t actually being targeted.

If discrediting an American news personality merits law enforcement intervention the police should consider placing Laura Ingraham’s production team under surveillance.

While i wouldn’t mind that, i think its the matter of a foreign country using lies and smears via hacking.

Wonder how long it will take Jeff Sessions to shut that investigation down.

This story bores me so I haven’t read everything out there about it. Have IT specialists established the alleged hack was done by foreign persons? Has it even been independently established and corroborated a hack occurred?

No matter what, why isn’t Joy Reid allowed to change her mind over something like 15 years ? Positions evolve, people learn (sometimes)…

If the “way-back” archive is hacked, that should be of concern to all of us. To get the FBI involved takes more than assertions. If the NBC copy does not match the internet archive, there is skullduggery afoot!

It seems to some people can’t change

That is what the FBI is doing, given recent events and tactics with Russia trying to influence politics in the US i think its fair to say that it could be part of a ongoing effort.

Well, if she wasn’t hacked then this is rather bizarre. On the other hand, if she was hacked then this is even more bizarre… and rather scary.

Reid did herself no favors in this matter when she apologized for previous, similar homophobic postings. Postings for which she did not disavow authorship, nor cry hacking.

If an admitted bank robber says of a new accusation, “Sure, I’ve robbed banks in the past, but on this job I’m being framed I tell you!!!” just how much credence do feel like granting them in their protestations?

If someone said a few things that are homophobic in the past, and apologized for it. Why would they say they were hacked instead of saying ive already addressed these post and move on, seems to me saying they were hacked would bring more attention not less.

I don’t see a much of a motive for Joy saying she was hacked if she was not, but i do see a motive for someone to try to smear Joy.

If foreign actors-and okay, let’s just say it, Russia–are hacking the accounts of American opinion leaders to plant disinformation, that’s actually a thing the FBI would want and need to investigate. Wikileaks involvement and RT’s spin on this is very likely the reason the FBI think’s there’s reason enough to have its people give it a look.

I honest to god don’t understand that viewpoint. I’m seeing it all over, but the way a lot of people are seeing it as making her less, rather than more, credible is the reason no one ever apologizes for anything anymore.

Did anyone really think the Russians would quit once the Republicans allowed them to get away with White House grand theft auto?
