Well, on the good side, FIFA is slightly less corrupt than the Olympic Committee.
Seems sinful to waste people’s lives (the workers who built the stadium in Qataar) and murder people all for a game where men kick a ball around.
I played soccer all through high school, by the way, and it’s fun - but it’s a damn GAME.
Gee, who else that we know ranted in public about someone opposing him: “Knock the crap out him O.K? I promise you I will pay your legal fees!”
It’s funny, but of all the sports out there, I think of soccer - the game - as one of the purest, a uniting of skill and endurance in the way few others are. The professional sport, on the other hand, is just as dirty.
It’s already happened, Trump rallies are on the very edge of this kind of violence, and there were occasions where reporters were worried enough that they were escorted out by security (Katy Tur had that happen). And, there was the newspaper shooing last year at the Capitol Gazette in MD, though I haven’t heard how the anti-press environment encouraged the shooter (but it didn’t help). There’s all the bomb threats against CNN, NYT, and similar things going on that make US reporters really fear for their lives sometimes, but despite that they keep reporting.
