Discussion for article #227340
Oh pleeze! By delaying this for 8 weeks or so, the administration can institute a more progressive policy (after mid-terms) and perhaps save the Senate majority. This seems to be a no brainer to meā¦
I understand his frustration, but I wonder if he understands just how disastrous a Republican Senate would be, not just for Hispanics, but for everyone.
Iās all about them. Freak the rest of us. You are right. A GOP Senate is worse than immigration. Would terribly hurt the citizens here who have no other country
The next step in the Lobster Quadrille of practical politics: keeping the advocate outrage pressure on, so the politicoās inaction appears sympathetic to opponents.
If Republicans win The Senate Hispanics would be screwed ten times worse. You can bet on that.
The HISPANICS are screwed worse. They would impeach Obama and actively seek out those DREAMERS and they mommas and ship them back
Unless they are from Cuba
Where would Ramos prefer the decision be sited?
-edit- Ah! They fixed the wording and my comment no longer makes sense.
The Hispanic voter participation rate is pathetic. You canāt take a chance on people who are not going to show up at the polls to back you up. Sound cynical, you bet,but thatās how it works, and itās the political calculation Obama has made.
Jorge Ramos isnāt the president. But if he were, heād do the same thing.
Besides, putting this off also is a āsuggestionā that people put their vote where their mouth and heart are.
You think republicans are going to have an immigration plan that benefits immigrants?
Vote this November. If you donāt, youāre part of the problem right along with republicans.
Exactly.
Jorge, youāre being naive. Obama is the best hope for any decent moves on immigration in decades.
Work with the man.
I believe if this President is holding off itās because if the Democrats continue to hold onto the Senate it would be more beneficial for all involved, including the Hispanics. Bashing the President for doing what he thinks is best for everyone involved is just plain wrong. The Republicans hate every person of color, especially the Hispanics, so instead of bashing the President, we need to go out and vote.
t
I guess Jorge would prefer a republican controlled senate?
I trust and hope that our (Latino) voter turnout will be increased, both in percentages and numbers.
Itās absolutely true that Hispanics donāt show up at polls. As a group they seems to dislike both parties equally, so why should the president play to a non existent voting bloc. But I believe that when he does act it will be forcefully, unequivocal and for the benefit of Hispanics.
Makes me wonder how many people follow Ramos on Twitter because this could be little more than an attempt to increase his visibility, virtual visibility anyway.
He is not worried about playing ā to a non existent voting bloc.ā He is worried about alienating the people who already take the time vote every yearā¦ He basically wrote the Hispanics off for their own good until after the 2014 midterms
Lloron.
