Discussion: Jon Stewart on Trump: 'Why Is Anyone Surprised?'

Discussion for article #238597

Stewart should announce that he is staying with the show as long as Trump is a candidate.

His last show is in about two weeks. Odds are that’ll be long enough.

I am going to miss John. His replacement seems lame.

What’s wrong with tRump?

He is an obnoxious, blowhole, or in other words, a gop/bag…that’s what is wrong him!

No need to defend McCain. He ended up a POW by disobeying orders, something he was in a habit of doing throughout his time in the Navy. McCain should have been jailed with the Keating Five. He deserves no sympathy or respect.

It’s Trump kippur! It’s the opposite of atonement and repentance.

So… Fukippur You?

A MOR comedian from South Africa seems like a really poor choice for a high profile position in American satire. I’m predicting a short tenure. We’ll see.

Trump, in his crude Super Awesome Rich Guy From Queens way, is right. Stewart is wrong.

McCain graduated at the bottom of his class and was supposedly saved multiple times by his highly placed military father while crashing one plane after another. He was horribly tortured and I believe (correct me) eventually sang. I would have done anything to make it stop right away. So he gets endless credit for that, but not for being any kind of hero.

Trump sort of has Gen. Patton on his side: “It is a popular idea that a man is a hero just because he was killed in action. Rather, I think, a man is frequently a fool when he gets killed.”
Speech at the Hatch Memorial Shell, Boston, Massachusetts (7 June 1945), quoted in The Last Days of Patton (1981), p. 85, by Ladislas Farago and 'The Patton Papers: 1940-1945 (1974), p. 721, edited by Martin Blumenson. Substitute “captured” for “killed”, and I don’t think you violate the spirit of the quote. That being said, it is still true that: 1) Trump is a jerk; 2) although being captured does not by itself make you a hero, IIRC, some of McCain’s actions while a prisoner were somewhat heroic; 3) McCain’s politics suck.

And Max Clealand?

Make a list of what’s moral about tRump…less arduous and time consuming.
