Discussion: Jon Stewart Nails Giuliani For 'Love' Remarks: 'You Don't Own 9/11' (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #233597

Great clip as usual, and I appreciate TPM regularly flagging these, but could I ask you folks not to put any of the actual jokes in the descriptions? Jokes tend to be funnier the first time you hear them.

“Pres. Obama didn’t live through 9/11 …” Um, really? Since Pres. Obama and I are roughly the same age, I assure you that Mr. Obama–like myself and all other Americans on that day–did, in fact live through 9/11.

What a First-Class Asshat!

Jon Stewart actually has a better clip that TPM won’t run because they seem to have a Giuliani coverage fetish. Well worth watching as he addresses the right-wing’s obsession with Obama not using the term radical Islam when describing terrorists. The clip: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/stewart-diagnoses-obama-with-msnbcitis-over-radical-islam-fight/

I prefer the jokes in the body because I don’t have a chance to watch the video on most occasions.

Used to be there was the ‘Good Rudy ’ and there was the "Psycho Rudy’ - and you never knew which one would show up… but it seems that some time ago ‘Psycho Rudy’ drowned ‘Good Rudy’ in a bathtub … and ‘Psycho Rudy’ has been running around un-medicated for some time.

Given the fact that there are numerous instances where Obama clearly and effusively expresses his love for America, and the fact that Guiliani could have had someone research that ahead of time, it is clear that he set out to do a hit job on Obama regardless of the truth. He is a liar and a racist and not smart enough to realize that people would do the research and call him on it. But then in the Fox news world, there will be millions who won’t know the truth.

But what does it mean to love your country, anyway? Apparently, some believe that the desire for transformation is evidence that one does not love one’s country. That, apparently, is the evidence against Obama. The sad thing, of course, is that Obama was not able to transform America and certainly not assholes like Guiliani.

Well, that’s why they make chocolate and vanilla. I won’t click just anything but Jon Stewart makes the cut and I work from home so no problemo. Love your avatar.

If you don’t always watch Jon Stewart, that was one to catch. Although the interview with IMF head Christine Lagarde wasn’t great. I’d like to hear about what the IMF is doing besides Greece.

That’s the question. I live in California, wouldn’t live anywhere else, yet there’s somebody out there who thinks it’s a state full of nutty liberal loons, eating little more than fruit, nuts and kale and doing so while nude on city streets. I on the other hand wouldn’t live east or south of Colorado. But I love my country and will defend it to anyone who says something disparaging about it or its people. Rudey seems to forget the terrible and sad history of Italian-Americans trying to make it as immigrants in this country. It is only here that they could ultimately succeed as they have.

Thank you for that.

It was a decision made in which the “truth” was not required in “news” broadcasts. This enables FOX. Helps CNN.

Just look at that above sentences. And cry for our youth.

The problem with these right-wing aholes is they claim to love America, but they hate real Americans - not just Native Americans, but the good people of New England and New Amsterdam from whom the highest American values were imparted. The whole claim against “coastal elites” is precisely the rejection of those who once made America exceptional. What’s especially painful is Giuliani’s resolute rejection of the core values of the very city he was mayor of - a rejection also embodied in his father’s career as a Mob enforcer.

Now, I’ve lived in a Mob-controlled Brooklyn neighborhood, and truly have a fondness for their culture. But the farther we can keep it out of American politics, the better.

But if you remove the word Giuliani, the heading wouldn’t make much sense…OH, I get it. Never mind…

TPM, if I wanted auto play on a clip I’d go to CNN.

Having said that…I love Jon Stewart!
And Rudy noun verb 9/11 Giuliani is an asshat supreme.
His willful stupidity really annoys me.

that. was. hilarious. thank you for sharing.

When he said “the unique willingness to crassly exploit it” it was a good moment for simple human decency.

Thank you, that’s my baby Maximus. He passed about 3 years ago. The love of my life, but don’t tell my husband. For what it’s worth, I like chocolate.

It’s a rare comment by Rudy that he doesn’t include 9/11 in some fashion. In that original comment about Obama not loving America he said something to the effect that Obama didn’t live thru 9/11 and that both he and his police commissioner (later found to be a felon) had buildings fall on them. We all lived thru 9/11 unless that is one is less than 14 years old. Seeing as Obama is older than 14 and that Rudy is still with us and was killed by a building falling on him, I question the veracity of his statements. I think the poor man is unbalanced and is in need of an intervention.

Giuliani may not “own 9/11” but he certainly appears to have purchased the merchandising rights.
