THEY need to get a CONSERVATIVE comedian like Dennis Miller WHO can GIVE PRO TRUMP jokes that WILL ensure HILARITY ENSUES at the dinner. JOKES About black people, RETARDS, and HITLARY. SOmething I think we can all get behind.
It was a pleasure at that. But I have an extended family member whoâs creating some drama about whoâs going where for Thanksgiving this year and Iâm seeing the value of being clear about who is and is not invited. ![]()
Ah yes, family and holidays - they wouldnât be the same without the drama.
If you canât stand the heat, stay out of the Press Club Dinner.
Having just finished Chernowâs excellent biography of Hamilton I am looking forward to hearing what Chernow has to say.
Should it be the Chernowâs druthers, he could be more devastating to Toadglans Spankee than any comedian.
I hope he will choose that tack.
Wishing I could join you at your restaurant.
Youâre welcome to if you can make that happen. hahahahaha
Where upon trump would call Chernow a lousy failing author. I expext trump to tweeter something stupid. Itâs what he does
A lot of the jokes youâd crack at the WHCD would be based on satire.
However, the Trump administration (and frankly, the mediaâs coverage that has been unable to adjust to covering a farcical administration) is beyond satire. I just canât imagine being a comedian and coming up with decent jokes for the situation.
There is also the annual Kennedy Center Honors, began in 1978. People in the arts are awarded a medal in a private ceremony with the president and the program is broadcast on CBS. Since trumppâs been in office the recipients have said in one voice that trump is not welcome to attend.
In previous years the president and FLOTUS would be seated in the balcony watching performances, and maybe itâs me, but it always seemed the Obamas had the best time of any one, moving to the music (Herbie Hancock, Santana, the Eagles) and applauding enthusiastically.
It could also be an attempt to undo the âfake newsâ stuff moron shouts at the press. It would be a gathering of people who take their work seriously and a guest who knows history, two qualities 45 unfortunately lacks.
Itâll be interesting to see what the WH schedules for Trump that creates a schedule conflict so that he canât attend. Golf, hair work, watching TV???
There is nothing funny about the situation.
Luckily for us all, there is. I, for one, might have succumbed to high blood pressure or something over the last 2 years if if not for the surreal hilarity of this presidency. Still, the move from comedy to history at this WHCD is absolutely necessary. They canât keep fiddling while freedom of the press is burning.
Or Rich Little who is still cribbing material from around 1978.
Not mine, darlin, cause I donât have any. Thanks for reminding me that being an orphan actually rocks.
I think Chernow will take the safe route and give a very non controversial speech. He just seems like that kind of person.
That said, while touring for his book on Grant, he made it very clear that slavery was THE cause of the Civil War and not any âStates Rightsâ bullshit.
Either way, Iâll be interested in what he has to say.
