Discussion: Johnson: Trump's 'Rigged' Talk Made It Hard To Address Election Interference

Putin played us like a fucking orchestra. Nothing about this election was right.

Is it Putin or the elite 5th column here that took and is currently taking oligarch cash?

They were working together - that is also obvious.

So, I wonder, do they have a long-term plan, a goal beyond gorging like ticks?

Of course the GOP has a long term plan - to take away every single bit of safety net that has been put in place for us starting over 70 years ago.

Makes you wonder who really leaked that Access Hollywood recordingā€¦ Certainly accomplished the goal of distracting the public from Russian interference.

No, that too is obvious and underway I mean beyond this time, when Ivankaā€™s Chinese and Russian-speaking kids ruleā€¦

Sorry - that part I donā€™t know. Itā€™s hard to figure that out. Mainly there is a whole shitload of money wandering around through Bank of Cyprus and Trump properties and god knows where else that is being used, laundered, used again. Beyond that Iā€™m not sure except I am sure about what Putin wants - he wants NATO gone, he wants to reestablish the boundaries of the old USSR. He wants the Balkans and probably Czechoslavakia and who knows what else.

But that sort of plan is like unto a plan to balance a 16 ton steel ball on the spire of the Eiffel tower. Itā€™s an unstable state of equilibrium. The effect would be to produce widespread social unrest and a nation groaning under the weight of poverty and pain.

What kind of a stupid plan is that?

A stupid GOP plan.

The whole Scalise thingā€¦horrific, yes, donā€™t get my admittedly rank cynicism wrong hereā€¦if one could view the whole media, social and old, schmaltz fest camouflage rapidly pulled across the abject horror like some banal tarp in a rain delay would there be a victor of any sort, much less the psycho political goal?

It is the stupid plan of people who think their Galtian greatness shields them from an American repeat of the French or Russian Revolutions because reasons.

I think you have something there. For all their success in rigging markets or bamboozling voters, thereā€™s little evidence that the oligarchs are capable of long-term thinking.

I thought the point about ā€œacceptingā€ the results was more a rehash of the not so subtle violent threats made earlier. You really only have to change a few words:

ā€œIf she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks,ā€ Mr. Trump said, as the crowd began to boo. He quickly added: ā€œAlthough the Second Amendment people ā€” maybe there is, I donā€™t know.ā€

Personally I think 2007 should have taught us everything we need to know about the oligarchs long term planning. It is all about those short term profits consequences be damned.

Yeah but to me it was so irrelevant and it got to be a big deal. And it caused the Democrats and the WH to start vouching for our system and our elections.

So whatever the reason, there was no real reason to pursue a hypothetical question like that over and over. Iā€™m not saying the press or the Democrats were in on it, but everybody sure got suckered.

So, the way I read this is that Johnson, like most of the gutless crowd in Obamaā€™s administration, was intimidated by Trumpā€™s baseless taunts. Obviously, he like most of the Democratic leadership, has no clue how to play the hardball politics McConnell & co. have been playing for 8 years or more. Fear of being accused as biased is exactly what paralyzed most of the MSM during the election, playing directly into the strategy of the much smarter, more cunning Republicans and their propagandists. When will Dems wake up and smell the roses???
