I came to the conclusion that Scalia needs a mental health intervention long ago, but I think Roberts may have been sitting too close to him and has caught the same affliction. Most of what I’ve read of his dissent (haven’t seen the entire thing) doesn’t rise up to even basic legal logic. I’ve come to accept that from Scalia and his lap dog, but Roberts, not so much. Sad that he can be so good on so many things, even ones on which I disagree, and can be so blatantly and personally homophobic on this one and abandon all attempts at trying to give a legal point. He can save his crocodile tears for what we have lost (yes, I’m gay) and just apply his well trained legal mind to things of a legal matter. Guess what John Boy and Antonin … your side lost, and that’s because it deserved to. The legal arguments presented by the anti-gay lawyers were laughable, and Roberts must realize that.

This is so fucking stupid on so many levels. This is akin to saying the Civil Rights movement was a failure because it took courts and Congress to enforce the law instead of waiting around for those good, Southern, white folks to stop cursing and spitting at black kids for the egregious harm of going to school.
