Plus you would not just write illegitimate. It should read “This email is NOT legit, do NOT open it.”.

It can be, but as with the DCI n the DNI hackings, all that’s needed to test that theory is someone with too much time on their hands vs a support network that’s caught with their ‘pants down’.

Then why was this person in a position responsible for conducting needed checks? Why did he make his own judgement about what he was not specialized in but might be something serious without consulting someone else with more appropriate expertise, or didn’t they have any such people? It’s just so loose it’s startling…

Obviously, the responsible thing to do here is have Congress conduct 9-10 separate investigations into Hillary Clinton’s staff’s email habits. Nothing else to look at.

Don’t buy this at all. Plan and simple Podesta f’d up and is now blaming it on an assistant.
Maybe the Russians can provide us with that email from the assistant to prove it as as well.
I will be very glad when old people just leave computers alone.
Then a bright boy (or gal) can bring up Mike McCaul getting hacked.

Exactly, if there’s someone to blame, other than Russia, it’s the lazy ass IT guy who repeatedly ignored calls from the FBI. Podesta clicked on a link an aide told him was legitimate. How is he somehow the bad guy in this?
It’s astounding that after everything we know now, with all the knowledge we have about various members of Team Trump having strong financial ties to Russia, that anyone still believes the Russians wouldn’t have done the exact same thing to Sanders.

I don’t think the Russian hacking did anything to change the results of the election. I do think the Comey letter was much more significant. Having said that, I think the hacking story can be used to our benefit. It exposes Trump as a Russian stooge which will go far in deligitimizing his presidency and it is certain to cause a riff within the GOP. For Putin and RUSSIANS, product of the hacking was nowhere worth the penalty they’ll pay in the long run.

an aide mistakenly wrote to him that it was a “legitimate”—rather than “illegitimate”—message.
This is also quite hard to fathom – an “illegitimate” email, a “legitimate” email – and he wrote it was a legitimate email, not an legitimate email. How could this be a simple typo? And couldn’t he just said “a phishing attack” if he knew it was?
I don’t know – I know a lot of smart people who are tech-unsavvy (like setting their passowords to “password” for everything kind of unsavvy) and I get relatively old people tend to be that way, but this report just leaves me in more ???
