Discussion for article #236242

You are in a really bad place when McCain, rightfully, ridicules you!

I find this entire paranoid soon-to-be debacle hilarious.

Conservatives need to find leaders who have a little more common sense than the likes of Abbott and his kind.

On the right, when Grampy McCain calls you bizarre and paranoid, you know you got a problem.

He should know, he has been around for most of them.

I think the reason these open carry lets-secede-from-the-union gun nuts are losing their minds over all this is because one look at the U.S. Military having their exercises reminds them that their nickel plated .357 revolver and prized AK-47 with the extra long magazine isn’t worth shit.

The crazy is just them having a sad.

Sigh. Why do Republicans & Conservatives hate our American soldiers?

We had exercises in the southwest in 1815? Joint exercises with Spain or Mexico?

Hearing all these politicians deny a military takeover of the Southwest is depressing. I was so close to cutting a check for my small part in the cattle car acquisition program. Sigh. Oh well, one door closes, another opens. Now I’ll contribute to eradicating Christianity in Lousiana I guess.

aside from the lunacy of a military takeover having a bunch of National Guard troops monitoring the military would make me feel as secure as I did when the National Guards were patrolling the airports after 9/11…

you know when they kept dropping their rifles and they kept going off…

And then God created Greg Abbot to make John McCain look good. You can’t say She doesn’t have a wicked sense of humor.

No, it would be a Bundy Ranch scenario. A bunch of crazed, paranoid Texas Guard weekend warriors would get close to a shooting war with the U.S. military because some Army staff officer ran over a flock of chickens in a jeep or something. Then simply to avoid the idiocy of people getting killed the military withdraws rather than deal with all the tin foil nutjobs pointing guns at them. Texas Tea Party and Fox News declare victory and assert the entire episode proves their suspicions were correct all along. Lunacy wins.

“We have been having military exercises in the southwest for a couple of hundred years,” he said

I guess he must be including the Mexican-American War as part of those military exercises.

Don’t hold your breath—it’s going to get worse, not better, as the Teavangelicals consolidate their stranglehold on the GOP. The Republican Party is a de facto theocratic party, but people don’t seem to have grasped that fact yet.

this being Texas it would be more likely for them to have a necktie party because someone shot a cow by accident…

Plug in “GOP” for “Taliban” in the following paragraph and tell me it doesn’t maintain the same general thrust of thought:

The author Ahmed Rashid suggests that the devastation and hardship of the Soviet invasion and the following period influenced Taliban ideology. It is said that the Taliban did not include scholars learned in Islamic law and history. The refugee students, brought up in a totally male society, not only had no education in mathematics, science, history or geography, but also had no traditional skills of farming, herding, or handicraft-making, nor even knowledge of their tribal and clan lineages. In such an environment, war meant employment, peace meant unemployment. Dominating women simply affirmed manhood. For their leadership, rigid fundamentalism was a matter not only of principle, but also of political survival. Taliban leaders “repeatedly told” Rashid that "if they gave women greater freedom or a chance to go to school, they would lose the support of their rank and file."

McGramps’ dig came a full week after exgovernor Goodhaiir McOops’ shot.

The nut jobs are running out of time for their prophecy to come true about Obama grabbing all the guns. What they don’t know, is that as a Kenyan Muslim, Obama can go all around the country in one night and slide down the chimneys like Santa Claus. He knows where you are hiding the guns, but it would be better if you left them on the kitchen table along with milk and cookies.

I’ve gotten plenty of laughs over this nuttery in Texas, but now it’s time for Josh to turn his attention to a topic that’s actually one of his original TPM areas of focus: voter suppression and the fraud of “voter fraud.” Check out what’s been going down in North Carolina:

I just want to know why the folks who want to invade desert countries don’t want our troops practicing for such an event (black President). Why those who genuflect in front of anything troop-related think those same troops are going to invade them (black President). Why those who gave our previous Commander in Chief such leeway to conduct foreign policy now distrust anything the current one does (black President).

I’ll figure this out eventually (black President).
