Discussion for article #223198
Thanks for this analysis. Yours is the first and Iâve been waiting to see who got the joke first. This was a brilliant play by John Kerry.
There it is. If Issa backs down, his committee is discredited. Gowdyâs committee has already been discredited and itâs gonna get worse.
YeahâŚmy guess is that Boehner is going to have to step in and shut Issa down. It will be a very messy scene, but in the end Issa would go along and stop his investigations.
Really good analysis. I agree that this is a really smart move by Secretary Kerry.
Just like his boss! A chess player, while the GĂP try to figure out âCandy Land.â
Excellent analysis. With a Fox poll showing 63% think this is a partisan attack by the GOP they are already on thin ice. The way Democrats have been pushing back against the latest witch hunt Boehner ought to cut his losses and call it off.
âAvoiding partisan overreach â or the appearance of it â will be a challenge for the GOP.â
W A Y T O O L A T E F O R T H A T ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Just the fact that TPM could even print those words without some sort of quote marks around them is quite a chuckler.
John Boehner has really shown his incompetence on this issue again. Darrell Issa has been the conservative Benghazi town crier for a while. He almost won severely conservative, vulture capitalist, dancing pony exemption and tax evader extrordinaire Mitty Romney the White House. Darrell Issa has the credentials and the expertise to fabricate evidence, doctor emails and create the conspiracy needed. He should be leading the conservative charge.
Kind of an informal poll here ?
Wondering what TPM readers think the chances of getting a Dem
majority in the house are ?
I tend to talk to a lot of Republicans being a Democrat myself.
I just donât know many self-described Republicans who re planning on voting a straight
Republican ticket in 2014, whereas they did without hesitation in the past.
The 50 plus seat takeover by Republicans was a shock in 2010 to the mainstream media,
the conventional wisdom was 20 â maybe 30 GOP seats.
I see the reverse being possible this time â in a big way ?
What are Republicans you know saying about casting votes in 2014 ?
Curious what the rest of you think ?
Am I the only one who thinks that Trey Gowdy looks like a cross between a young Christopher Walken and Draco Malfoy in that picture? Or is it just me?
ââŚwith little to show for it substantively or politically.â
Heâs got lots to show for it since he completely gets off on his âpowahâ. But cum-stained shirts arenât a political plus for Repugs.
Yup, Iâse likes me some Kerry.
All of the Republicans I know are even more worked up than they were in 2010. They will definitely still be voting straight ticket this year. Of course, they all voted last time as well, and it isnât like your vote counts more if you are really really angry about it. Plus, itâs Texas, so it isnât like we are looking at any chance of the GOP gaining seats here; the gerrymandering was done so well, I donât think there are any swing districts in the state.
I donât think it was such a shock at all. Thatâs all I heard from the MSM for a year even though I was in denial and couldnât imagine people voting the tea party aâholes into office.
Hear hear JEP.
When Democratic voters are convinced to actually vote, Republicans lose. What is difficult is getting them to vote.
On the other hand, there are so many things energizing the Republican base, they are definitely going to show up to vote.
I am not going for a precise guess, but my money is on the GOP gaining seats.
Oh the joy!!
Nailed it!
Also, therefore, and as well, the ball has shifted to the VA investigation where there maybe some red meat which isnât entirely the GOPâs fault. Doing less with less shouldnât mean that wounded heroes do without. No!
