Discussion: John Kelly: Trump Is ‘Somewhat Embarrassed, Frankly’ By Russia Probe

“Something that has gone on this long without any real meat on the bone, it suggests to me that there is nothing there, relative to our president.”

Oh, I doubt that Trump is embarrassed as much as he is angry … and worried. It must be nice if you can really ignore and compartmentalize like that, Kelly. Just wait a short time to see what the investigation reveals…
Oh, by the way … how do you like yours cooked?

I will be happy when Trump is embarrassed enough to resign. Frankly, I doubt whether trump is embarrassed by the Russia probe at all… he is simply unhappy that it is cutting into his grifting.

It’s the administration of justice – “embarrassment” isn’t a factor.

Kelly continues to disgrace himself, and us.

I call bullshit. Trump is incapable of feeling embarrassment.

The relevant emotion, Mr. Kelly, is shame. And all decent people are deeply shamed by the fact that so many people actually support this poor excuse for a human being. The longer we endure this, the more it becomes clear that Hillary Clinton was understating the case when she said that half of Trump’s supporters were a basket of deplorables. She understated it in two ways: it’s way more than half, and they are far more terrible than simply “deplorable.”

I did not know that embarrassment was part of Trump’s personality.

Nothing left to lose now but those last shreds of self-respect that strenuous denial has managed to preserve. You can see it in his face. And when it all comes crashing down he’ll have to admit to himself he knew, all along. Jesus Christ that is sad, to see any human being so degraded and shorn of any dignity, and know he knows he did it to himself.

Actually, I read this as more or less, Kelly making for the exit door. If, as so much reporting as indicated lately, his relationship with Trump is extremely strained right now, this comment will push it over the edge.

In Trump’s view, embarrassment is a weakness. And, its basically an admittance of guilt on Kelly’s part. Trump won’t stand for anyone portraying him this way on either count.

We know the Russians actively worked to help his campaign. We know they met with Don Jr., Jared and Manafort at Trump tower. We know that Manafort was deeply tied to the Russians. They helped place him in the campaign. We know that Trump has acted as though he is a Putin vassal at every turn. We know that Congressional Republican leadership has acted in very strange ways not in the interests of the American people. Every time you look behind a Trump operative you find a connection to some Russian Oligarch or other.

I think Mueller is looking for a smoking gun held by Trump himself but hasn’t found it. My personal guess is Trump himself was not directly involved, but his campaign certainly was and he had to be willfully ignorant not to know it was going on. Mueller needs to drain the Trump swamp and Trump needs to resign in shame

Oh, the poor dear! Can you give me an address, John, so I can send him some flowers and chocolates?
And, uh, blow me, John Kelly.

Exactly This! I have maintained all along that although I think it is fairly likely Trump was involved the “Russia thing” ir may turn out he was not. I’m ok with that. The way we find out is to complete the investigation. Trump certainly acts as though he is guilty of something. It is clear the Russians meddled in the election and that some in his campaign were involved. Root out the criminals. It may turnout Trump was only obstructing justice to protect friends and family but that is still a crime. Complete the investigation and let the chips fall where they may.

How many indictments, guilty pleas, sentences and prison terms will constitute “something”…lets talk embarrassment…If you are an American who cares about our future you are mortified and hoping something awful happens to these cowardly pukes and their fearless leader.

Oh fuck, this liar again? Why would the media even ask Kelly anything after the way he went after Rep Wilson and was shown to have made up what he said about her! And now we’re supposed to believe his judgement about how trump feels…? Bullshit. This is the same cowering weasel that supposedly calls trump an idiot behind his back yet won’t have the courage to quit. And remember, the media touted him as being the one that could rein in trump.

And you know what, IF trump is embarrassed SO. THE. FUCK. WHAT. This is the same guy that accused President Obama of not being born here, and even claimed to send his investigators to Hawaii. Now we’re supposed to feel sorry that he’s being investigated? Nope, nope and nope.

It’s just part of the charade. First, a Very Reasonable iteration of VP Pence gives an interview to NBC (!) to say that it’s time to wrap it up. Then a Very Reasonable iteration of Kelly is interviewed by NPR (!) and calmly says he doesn’t think there’s anything that links Trump (directly) to the Russians. Giving interviews to these specific news outlets is not incidental; it’s a strategy to take a disguised witch hunt message to the people who didn’t vote for Trump (Episcopalians! Liberals!), trying to sow the tiniest seed of doubt against Mueller.

“Kind of embarrassed…” That’s an odd choice of words to say “shitting his pants.”

Know what you mean, but deep as I dig I can’t manage to find even the tiniest scrap of sympathy for him.
