Discussion: John Bolton Chaired Anti-Muslim Group Shortly Before Joining Trump Admin

Wouldn’t actual reporting involve revealing Bolton HAD NOT chaired an anti-Muslim organization?

Yeah, seriously, THAT would have shocked me. This news? Meh…par for the course.

I think you mean actual journalism, not actual reporting. Actual reporting does include nothing that dog bites man.

What isn’t in this snippet from the article, is that some of the items from this group were used by IRA russian trolls to spread misinformation.

Tie that into some of Bolton’s other work that intersected with the Mercers and Cambridge Analytica - and maybe we start to get a broader picture of why Trump overcame his being offput by the mustache and picked Bolton? Maybe some external nudging? Ya, sometimes when the Russian and CA intersections get too close it gets really easy to slide into a bit of conspiratorial thinking. Sue me.

o/t - sorta (cause he is supposed to be overseing Trump’s access to National Security issues) - but this story seems rather important. Because if targetted Russian Oligarch’s on the Sanctions list (the Trump released one) just can get ‘exemptions’ - then what is the point? I hope this gets more coverage:

Sort of like Trump’s steel/aluminum tariffs.

“They’re being imposed on everyone!! Well, except Canada. And Mexico. And Australia. And most of Western Europe. And Japan. And some other nations. But otherwise, we’re tired of being walked all over, we’re putting our foot down and protecting American jobs!”

Just more deplorable-itis multiplying rapidly and infecting the White House. There really is no cure short of radical surgery to cut out the cancer at this point.

“Bolton himself did not author the anti-Muslim posts on the Gatestone Institute’s website, but he still chose to associate himself with the group.”

“Still”?!? What do you mean by including the qualifier “still”? As if such bigotry could ever pose a potential deterrent for Bolton.

Well, I’m sure this will provide another light in the long dark tunnel for leaders of white supremacist and neo-nazi groups that there is a path to return to power in the Trump Administration.

Claude Rains. “Casablanca”. You know the drill.

It’s clear Bolton & the Mercers were behind anti-Muslim ads targeted at creating xenophobic & nativist anxiety to support Trump & other GOP candidates before the 2016 election.

One such Mercer anti-Muslim group, “Secure America Now”, received $50,000 from the founders of Best Buy, who now claim to know nothing, nothing about hate groups & bigotry.

Good catch. Sure - he had no idea.

Just read more about this.

which links to this story:

So nice Bolton could share his many talents with so many Mercer-backed hate groups:

“Bolton has also served on the board of advisers of Secure America Now, a group that specializes in sensational ads, including one that had to be pulled down after the family of journalist James Foley criticized its use of footage of Foley’s murder by ISIS.”

"Robert Mercer backed a secretive group [Secure America Now] that worked with Facebook, Google to target anti-Muslim ads at swing voters…
As the final weeks of the 2016 elections ticked down, voters in swing states like Nevada and North Carolina began seeing eerie promotional travel ads as they scrolled through their Facebook feeds or clicked through Google sites…

"…the group made an “Islamic States of America“ travel promo, where Syrian refugees have overtaken America. In the ad, the iconic Hollywood sign reads “Allahu Akbar,” and the Statue of Liberty wears a burka and holds a star and crescent. In the video, Ground Zero in New York City is shown as place where citizens can “celebrate our Islamic victories.”

Bolton shouldn’t even be allowed in the White House as a guest at the Easter Egg roll.
