Senator Waren can do much more good staying in the Senate than being Vice President.
Both combos would be freekin great in terms of campaigning, BUT I have to admit to still seeing Warren as a more valuable Senate asset for the next 4 years. Removing her vote from the Senate and allowing Baker to appoint some mealy-mouthed MA Republican shit dollop would be a fucking disaster. Not only that, but I want her in there pulling Clinton to the left and keeping Clinton honest.
Yeah…I figured that was the gist of the discussion back when their meeting was first reported. He asked, she declined, and he sort of put the whole idea of running on a shelf for a few weeks.
Still, I am standing by my earlier opinion…these drips and drabs of Biden’s “shoulda coulda woulda” pieces are making me very sad to see him go out this way.
That cannot be underestimated. Look at how powerful her current situation is right now…long after he state actually voted and without giving an endorsement to anyone. That trajectory will only continue, IMO. So I really don’t get why people want her to surrender that to be an attack dog for a few months and then disappear for 4 years.
Yes, we need every D we can get in the Senate. Plus she is turning out to be a fabulous wing man (woman?) for Hillary.
Well, it could. I’ll put nothing past Team Unicorn at this point. Bernie has and they have created such a fucking problem at this point that picking Warren for her running mate may actually be seen or argued as perfunctory mollification of Team Unicorn’s hurt fee fees and tantrum politics at this point.
Wouldn’t mind her breathing down Shumers neck if the Senate flips.
Great point…that too x 100. Schumer keeps a bag of Wall Street dicks in his office for snack purposes and everyone knows it.
Warren is on Hillary’s VP list too. A Clinton/Warren Dem Ticket would be awesome. Talk about party unity folks!!!
Okay. Since you said it I have to ask: What do you mean by keeping Clinton honest? All I see is RWNJ attacks on her. When I ask for proof I get nothing back. I hope you can help me out.
Team Unicorn has already started attacking Warren for being a sell out. So without a doubt, they would continue and escalate that narrative.
But besides it being a bad move to choose Warren, I really don’t see Hillary going in that direction. Shoring up her left flank ahead of a General against Trump is a pointless move…the party will unite around her and against Trump, regardless of where they are on the political spectrum. And at her age, Warren offers no future for the Democratic party in 8 years. Plus, I really don’t think she needs two women on the ticket to underline that she is pro-woman.
But, on a side note about Team Unicorn…
This would be a rather interesting development.
Even worse:
The Vice President also reportedly believes Warren would be the best bet for Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton’s running mate.
I, too, believe Sen. Warren would be the absolute best choice for HRC’s running mate. However, as others on these threads have pointed out, Warren is needed in the Senate. We cannot trust Massachusetts’ GOP governor to replace Warren with a GOP Senator – no way. Warren knows this as well. I’ve come to believe Elizabeth Warren’s passions and talents are best placed in the U.S. Senate at this time.
and the problem might be that Scott Brown could be looking for a job… Gov’s rationale… he has experience…
Excellent point!!
I know VP Biden thinks he is a very important political figure. I guess he has had a good career and seems to be a nice man but please do your job, campaign for Ms. Clinton or get off the stage. No one really care what you would have done.
They’ve been attacking anyone and everyone who didn’t outright worship Bernie for months now. Warren not endorsing Bernie just happens to be their biggest disappointment by far. Their broken hearts just couldn’t take that one… their fee fees were definitely hurt there!
On the Politico piece, I don’t know. I really don’t think the number of Bernie fanatics who will not support Hillary are really as high as they think they are. In every election there are hurt feelings with regards to who is selected and run as the candidate. Yet the party always comes together to support the nominee. Witness the GOP already coming together for Trump (ugh… talk about throwing away your pride and decency).
Also, most of the folk who say they’ll never ever ever! support anyone other than Bernie always seem to live in states where their votes won’t really matter (already strong blue or red states).
I’m glad Biden is getting this out of his system now. The earlier the better. Now, he needs to focus back on getting Hillary elected and enjoying his upcoming retirement. No disrespect. Love you, Joe. But this ain’t about you anymore. You and PBO will have two months to run your victory laps and sum up your 8-years in office after Hill is elected.
I’m liking Tim Kaine more and more … and I’m absolutely in love with Julian Castro.
