Notre Dame certainly has situational morality deeply imbedded in that institution. They’ll give awards to Catholic pro-choice and anti-choice white politicians, but had real problems letting the black President of the United States speak to them early in his presidency about anything. I don’t get it. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
When Theodore Hesburgh stepped down as president (or chancellor, or whatever his title was), Notre Dame’s credibility as an advocate of social justice quickly slipped away, and the accountants took over. That’s my take, for what it’s worth.
