Discussion for article #242152
I like Joe, and would have been fine with him serving one term and bringing up a newcomer as his VP. I think Dr. Biden is fantastic. And, I am a reluctant HRC supporter, but think she has more ambition than he does, which is necessary. All that said, I think the good VP made the right decision, and I hope he finds an equally meaningful mission once out of office.
I also think that Joe would have made an excellent President, particularly in this time when so many of our wannabe leaders appear completely disconnected from reality.
As a Democratic elder statesman, Biden can still serve a major leadership role by leading a massive effort to recruit quality Democrats to run for the Senate and House and working to get them elected. No Democratic president will succeed unless rationality is returned to Capitol Hill.
“If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice…”
Good luck, Joe
I know this sounds unorthodox, even crazy, but I hope Hillary picks Joe Biden to be VP for her administration when and if she becomes President. There’s nothing in the Constitution that says he can’t be chosen again, even though its never been done. There are no term limits on the VP either. He’d be the perennial Vice President of the United States…and a good one at that.
I’ve had that same thought myself.
Oh no!
And why is this a news story? He hasn’t made it out of two previous primaries --not even come close. I wonder if he is going to use this “show” to claim again how the idiots who are attacking the frontrunner are all his buddies.
Tired of the soap opera.
Like Landshark said, Tired of the Soap Opera.
Bernie is the only hope to turn the good ship USA around. Enough of the bullshit; nobody is classier or has the yuuuuuugest. I’m so tired of the same old same old.
It’s funny. I talk to my friends and we’re all ready to take our walkers and cover precincts for Bernie.
Ah, nevermind. But please, don’t run over us come August.
Without a cooperative Congress, no one can turn the good ship USA around.
It certainly has been done. John C. Calhoun served as VP under both John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson.
Dr. Biden? Political pawn and slouch Biden, not Dr.!
I am referring to his wife, Jill. did you know women can earn PhDs these days?
True that Calhoun served as VP over the course of two Presidents as did a guy named George Clinton, but my point was that there has never been a VP that served more than 2 full four-year terms as VP, even though there is nothing in the Constitution that prevents this from happening. VPs are not term limited. That was my point. Calhoun and this other guy named Clinton also didn’t complete their 2nd terms as VP either from what I read.
According to the link I left, John Adams, Daniel Tompkins, Thomas Marshall, John Nance Garner, Richard Nixon, George H.W. Bush, Al Gore, Dick Cheney and soon-to-be Joe Biden are the only 9 VPs to have served 2 full four-year terms in all of US history.
No US Vice President has served more than 2 terms even though there’s no Constitutional prohibition against it.
You’re not a Banker are you? Biden puts up a good front but he’s in the pocket of the banking industry. He was head cheerleader for The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA). I think the name is meant to be ironic, because it does NOTHING to protect consumers in fact it did the opposite. It made it nearly impossible for a person to file bankruptcy and was passed at a time when consumers needed it most. Also too if you’re a cosigner on your kids student loans and they default, guess whose Social Security check is going to be garnished? Yup, that’s the guy you think is a great statesman. Fuck Joe Biden and his venomous smile.
