Sounds like he’s given up on the presidential bid in an effort to shore up his failed governorship.
He’s term limited, right? Maybe he’s looking to step down into a Senate role?

“Gov. Jindal opposes the tearing down of these historical statues and has instructed his staff to look into the Heritage Act to determine the legal authority he has as governor to stop it,” Jindal spokesman Doug Cain said in an email to the New Orleans Advocate.
I don’t think these monuments are being torn down. They’ll be moved to some museum or stored in a government warehouse. Hell, they may even end up being put next to the Arc of the Covenant.

Like all of Jindal desperate attempts to get publicity and rise in the polls from his position near zero, this latest stunt will not work.
Jindal’s campaign is every bit as dead as Rick Perry’s, Jindal just hasn’t run out of money yet. But what is worse, he has run out of support, i.e. potential voters. This week he even came in last in a straw poll at a Republican event in Baton Rouge, his hometown!
It’s over, pal. Time to pack up and call it a day. Bobby, with each passing day you look like a bigger fool.

Truthfully, General Lee was not very good because the nature of warfare was changing. He was very beholden to the old ways of warfare, as were much of the South. Meanwhile, tactics of warfare were changing heavily during the Civil War and morphing into what we would eventually see in WWI.
Of course, why should we be surprised that people who hate America are busy supporting monuments to people who hate America.

Never mind, though. This still is the kind of bold leadership we need from Bobby Jindal: OUR NEXT PRESIDENT!
I tell you what. The next global warming causes a super hurricane to come through New Orleans Jindal can use one of these monstrosities to hold onto for dear life until Bush gets around to recognizing he’s in danger and waves as he flies over above but doesn’t send in help for another week.

Good article. Trumpspeak is the continuation of the dumbing down of America, especially those in support of the GOP. It’s why Republicans understand him so well when he talks at that 3rd or 4th grade level.

Robert E. Lee did not hate America.
He was anti-secession and served the US Army admirably for almost 30 years.
Like many men of his generation, he placed loyalty to his state above all—they viewed the “States” part of the United States of America as being greater than the “United” part—so when Virginia seceded, Lee reluctantly went with her.
After the war, he encouraged Southerners to furl their battle flags and put them in the attic, and to get on with restoring the nation as a whole.
It is always a mistake to judge historical figures by the morals and mores of today. To understand them fully, we must look at them in the context of their times, without making judgments. This is how we arrive at the most correct assessment of their historical importance.
