Discussion: Jindal: If SCOTUS Strikes Down Gay Marriage Bans, We Should Amend Constitution

Discussion for article #232467

Give it up, Jindal. Homophobia has lost its fangs.

You may as well paint your own house white because the American people won’t be giving you one.

And Bobby will employ his uniquely persuasive personality to sway 67 Senators, 290 reps and 34 state legislatures to get the job done!

It’s a shoo-in.

“I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. My faith teaches me that, my Christian faith teaches me that,”

Sentiment which must really endear Piyush to the Hindu Indian-American community he came from.

Shorter Jindal:

“I pledge not to rest until I have completed the mission of leading the Republican charge into complete irrelevancy.”

The proposed Amendment failed to even pass both houses of Congress years ago, when the fervor was at full pitch. What makes Piyush think it has a snowball’s chance in hell now?

I certainly will support Ted Cruz and other crazy sonsabitches that are talking about making an amendment in the congress and D.C., a constitutional amendment to allow states to continue to define marriage."

Using the Google machine I discover that the last amendment to the Constitution was passed in 1992, and it had to do with equal pay for members of each house. Before that it was 1971 changing the voting age to 18. So it’s clear that the route to accomplish change is not through amending this noble document.

Bobby, Bobby, Bobby. Has it really been more than two years since you said something that wasn’t outrageous pandering? Time really does fly:

“It is no secret we had a number of Republicans damage our brand this year with offensive, bizarre comments -- enough of that,” Jindal told Politico. “It’s not going to be the last time anyone says something stupid within our party, but it can’t be tolerated within our party. We’ve also had enough of this dumbed-down conservatism. We need to stop being simplistic, we need to trust the intelligence of the American people and we need to stop insulting the intelligence of the voters.”

“a constitutional amendment to allow states to continue to define marriage.”

the states are free to continue defining marriage, as long as the definition doesn’t violate multiple parts of the constitution.

of course, gov. Jindal knows that an amendment will never fly, and he’s damn glad of it. if it did, there’s a very good possibility that the state he governs would happily go back to pre Loving v VA days. that could present a real big problem for him.

What a great Christian! The Governor of the state with the fourth-worst infant mortality rate in the U.S.
God bless you, Governor.

Didn’t the SCOTUS strike down segregation in 1954? Maybe you would like a constitutional amendment to bring it back. I don’t think that you would be sitting at the front of the bus in Louisiana.

I think there is a better chance of amending the constitution to bar mr. Jindal from office.
