such an honorable and decent man… and meanwhile, dick cheney thrives.

I was sad to hear about the cancer diagnosis. President Carter is one of the most decent and wonderful people out there, and one of the best former Presidents we’ve ever had. He has done so much to help others.

Good luck, Mr. President, and get in a little fly fishing when time allows.

Or even a lot of it. Relax by your favorite creeks, Jimmy – the rest of us can pick up the burdens you’re putting down.

He will surely need some relaxation but I wonder if at 90 years old perhaps palliative care is not called for instead. Radiation treatment will take its toll.

A damn shame - in my opinion the most forward-thinking and intelligent living President… aside from perhaps the one in office now. “Palestine - Peace not Apartheid” had a huge influence on me as a young man, and Carter’s been a hero to this Canadian boy ever since.

What’s truly amazing about Carter is that his diagnosis feels like time is being stolen from someone who should have so much more of it left - the man has taken such good care of himself you forget his age! Here’s hoping for a miracle recovery, but if not… well, this man has lived one hell of a life.

Thrives? He needed a heart transplant.

Carter is over 90. I doubt Cheney will get anywhere near that.

I just hope he can live out his days pain free. He deserves to go as peacefully as he lived his life.

You know what my Grandmother used to say…" Folks always ask…who wants to live to be 100? Well every 99 year old on the planet." Perhaps Frank Sinatra said it best though…“age…its only a number baby”.

Old age is not a disease and your 91 st year is just as sacred as your 21 st. I hope he does well.

Not every one of them. A friend’s grandmother was still mentally sharp as a tack, but didn’t have a lot of mobility left. On her 98th birthday someone asked, “Well, Grandma, you gonna’ make it to 100?” She replied, “I hope not.”

She didn’t get her wish, however - she made it to 103.

Godspeed, Jimmy.

it doesn’t sound good for him but we’ll certainly be keeping him in our prayers. He’s certainly lived life to the fullest.

A decent guy who’s spent his life trying to help others. I don’t believe in god but I wish you well and know you will rest in peace one way or the other. Thanks.

Jimmy Carter is one of our greatest ex-presidents in our lives. I hope his treatment goes well. He will be with Jesus in life or in death.

As a prominent oncologist has said. Melanoma is the disease that gives cancer a bad name. Radiation may slow growth, but not eliminate. Having lived with it for many years, I know that there are good things happening in immune therapies. It depends upon whether it would respond. Not good news.

Amen,Mr President:

"We should live our lives as though Christ were coming this afternoon.

Jimmy Carter, Spech in March 1976"

And you have Sir.

Maybe I’ll feel different some day but I swear if I were diagnosed with something like this, especially if I was 90, I’d just get my affairs in order, tell everyone goodbye and let nature take its course.
