Why not take this nomination at face value, and do a LONG, sober, faux serious take on Jr’s academic career: His degrees, his scholarship, his attendance at conferences, publications, citations.
Also, compare with some other university presidents Trump should have chosen. If the networks had any cleverness, they could really make hay AND draw viewers. Of course, it doesn’t help that so many of them are morons, but there are exceptions…
Does this really help them? Companies see “Liberty University” on the resume and toss right into the circular bin. They’re not fooling anyone.

They should all be fully accredited!!! And local Good Ole Boy Po-Lice departments should have first crack at investigating rape claims!!!
I guess every single move will be to shore up the base. Every single move will be an in-your-face to every halfway moderate or liberal voter out there. And if the goal is to foster exhaustion and apathy over the long run, I have to say I’m not seeing it yet, boy. Are they simply more obsessed with outraging the left than they are about real governance? That would explain their outrageous picks.
Flipping off the left is what they really do, every time, at times it seems as if their latest pick has little to do with actual planning or strategy of governance, they are simply posing themselves against some perceived adversary they desperately want to outrage, and at the same time telegraph the solidarity of that trivial contempt to their basest base, and everything else that follows is damage control after the fact.
They seem bent on posing the most outrageous characters the left can imagine, not the best conservative for any job.
It is almost as if Bannon and the rest of Trump’s Toads are focused only on insulting their perceived domestic adversaries, and no one else matters.
These are adolescent boys with brain envy, bent solely on revenge against real intellectuals they know outsmart them. They are not qualified to be world leaders because their trivial pursuits only magnify global and domestic problems.
They are so focused on flipping off the intellectual left that always beats them at chess, they don’t have time to actually govern.
If this was not true, their picks would not be so clearly provocative.
