2016 been a tough year on classic rock…and its still only January.
Bowie
Fry
and now Kantner.
I saw them in Fargo, ND during the 1967/68 school year. Also saw The Who in Fargo the same year. Both at a civic center the held maybe 2,000-3,000 people. In the spring of 1969 I was In Minneapolis and found out the Grateful Dead were playing. I saw them at a local labor temple the maybe held 1,000-1,500 people. Amazing days.
In 2002 I think it was I saw Kantner and 4 friends in a very small setting in downtown Tucson as “Starship”. I was all of 4 feet from him for a good part of the evening and got to shake hands at the end. A very satisfying evening. My generation is shrinking.

I was also physically present for an early morning set the Airplane did in upstate New York near the little town of Bethel in the summer of1969. The memory is quite hazy but I can still remember some of it.
