Discussion: Jeb Staffer Fired For Offensive Tweets Makes App To Catch Offensive Tweets

Discussion for article #235477

The most challenging part of this is determining which tweets are actually offensive

If you have to have an app to tell you what NOT to say, maybe you shouldn’t be tweeting?

Seriously.

Did he test it on his tweets first?

Can’t fix stupid. I mean, geez, if you need an app to tell you that you are tweeting something racist or sexist, maybe you shouldn’t be tweeting at all.

Who says you can’t turn a sow’s ear into silk purse?

Because the right thing to do is figure out how to scrub or spin the really offensive things you said, rather than to avoid saying them. Y’know, some of us just never felt it necessary to go public with our despicable opinions of minorities of one kind or another. Perhaps even because we didn’t hold such opinions.

I can’t wait for the list of synonyms that this app is going to need to be anything like effective.

I feel sad that I’m even posting a comment on this non news story.

What a handy device! Who among us hasn’t occasionally tweeted the N-bomb or done something equally spur-of-the-moment and thoughtless, like calling a woman a slut or tweeting a shout-out to Hitler. I, for one, say thank you, Ethan Czahor.

Hey, Mr. Czahor, there’s an even easier way to prevent offensive tweets, and you don’t even need to develop an app to do it. All you have to do is stop being an asshole which, unfortunately, seems to be a major component of RW Republican DNA.

So this poor thing thinks there needs to be an app to keep people
from saying offensive things?

I guess I can continue using a whole lot of kleenex weeping for the future.

A couple of months later Czahor has returned with a new app, called Clear, released Monday. Clear sifts through social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, searching for content that could be damaging to the user. The idea is to save the user from being associated with regrettable comments and content from the past. **

** Disclaimer: May not work on those associated with the GOP.

…every millennial is now entering the workforce, and maybe even a senior position, and everything that they’ve said online for the last 10 years is still there, and that’s a new thing for this generation," Czahor told TIME.

You’ve got to be a f^cking idiot-- to first post that kind of drivel publicly.
And again-- secondly-- to think that you can clean it up.

The internet is forever.
Go ahead-- hose yourself.

Or shit into shinola.

Read the other comments and turn that frown upside down!

And Wikileaks has stored everything in a searchable database because…, well, just because!

LOL… BLACK is a bad word. They should have settings for what race you are to better identify what would be offensive for you to say as well as an app to send tweets that proofs them for such words.

Well, if there’s one thing these conservatives trolls do better than making an ass out of themselves, it’s making money from other conservatives for making an ass out of themselves. He’ll probably net enough from GOP politico wanna-bes to cover until he gets his next job as an official troll again.

Pig? Yes. Smart? Also yes.

Can’t really imagine another way to spin getting fired like that into another job.
