Discussion: Jeb On Pence

and he’s supposed to be the smart Bush. This is, of course, pandering, but it is a stupid pander.

When has reality/facts/truth gotten in the way of their platform? And when has their base ever let reality/facts/truth kept them from supporting them?

"right’ being the operative word.

Why were you sure he wouldn’t? Did you think he was either too smart or too tolerant to?

Bush: Pence “did the right thing … whatever that was”.

FIFY :fist:

e-Jebbie swings to the right to sew threat cruz’s pant legs shut.

Hold on. We’re talking about the general electorate in a Presidential election.

“Indiana hate” plays very well in certain parts of IN AND in the GOP primary. But, “Indiana hate” won’t translate well to the country at large. If there’s no other evidence for that, look at the backlash Pence is being subjected to. This is not going away any time soon so, no, I don’t think Ham Sandwich (D) will have a hard time in '16.

Look for Bush to be walking this back fairly shortly. He must have a lawyer on his staff somewhere who can tell him that no, this law isn’t just like the one that Clinton signed. Even if he doesn’t want to take Chuck Schumer’s word for it, there must be someone who can sit him down and explain the differences in language to him in terms that he can understand.

Don’t forget he’s a moderate Moderate Republican, folks. The most moderatist moderate picture of moderate moderation ever to run for the Republican nomination! Also, too, Moderate!

Bush said. “This is simply allowing people of faith space to be able to express their beliefs, to have, to be able to be people of conscience.”

When you have multi-generational entitlement, bigotry and discrimination become a matter of conscience. I do agree with you in that I wouldn’t expect Jeb to sacrifice the long game in favor of the primary, but he still did some extremely conservative things while Governor of Florida.

to some, any discriminatory act short of lynching is being moderate.

The media ought to hang this around Jeb’s collar for the duration of his candidacy (they would if it was a Democrat who said such words). But they won’t. They might mention it once or twice to him to let him explain and then quickly ask him “So isn’t Hillary just awful?!” And I am not being sarcastic. They will let him slide so they can focus on emails (conveniently ignoring Jeb’s own email issues).

Definitely to Chuck Todd and Wolf Blitzer.

First he’s got to shore up the base.

Maybe he can get with the lawyers he consulted when he was trying to get Michael Schiavo indicted.

Because it was an “unforced error” for Bush to do what he just did

That would be very disheartening to me.

Jebya is another incompetent, amoral, sleazy scumbag from the power hungry, money-grubbing Bush family. A Bush will brownnose a santorum-exuding anti-christ if it made them richer or more powerful.
