Discussion: Jeb Bush: Knowing What We Know Now, I Still Would Have Invaded Iraq (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #236183

Doubling down works on focus-group/Frank Luntz/Koch Brothers/Alec talking points themes.

Thatā€™s why grifters like Ted Cruz can work their magic.

The Iraq War is not such a theme.

I donā€™t think Jabba understands the whole concept of ā€œKnowing what we know nowā€¦ā€.

Clearly a member of the douchebaggeratti.

ā€œAnd so would have Hillary Clinton, just to remind everybody,ā€ he added. "And so would almost everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got."

The problem, with your argument, Jebster, is that everybody who was confronted with that ā€œintelligenceā€ got that from Brother, Dubya and his clique, and as the Downing Street memo put it: "But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

And the policy was laid down by Dubya and his administration. So, perhaps, Hillary and others who voted for the war based on the misinformation they were given, might have invaded. But thatā€™s a red herring isnā€™t it?

Clearly doesnā€™t understand the phrase ā€œknowing what we know now.ā€

or

He hasnā€™t learned anything since 2003.

Would a more pointed question to Mr. Bush be, ā€œSo after something like $4 TRILLION dollars spent, the rise of sectarian violence, ISIS and 20/20 hindsight, should your brother have let the UN inspectors continue their work instead of rushing to invade?ā€

Anyone get a feeling that Jeb is toast?

Except for all that money. And the flaws of all the other candidates. He probably will outlast them all

He clearly didnā€™t understand the question. She asked ā€œknowing what we know nowā€ and he says with the ā€œintelligence they gotā€ and that Hillary would have as well. That wasnā€™t the question. Way to follow up Megyn.

What. An. Idiot.

Is Rove advising him? This sounds somewhat like a ā€œturning your weakness into a strengthā€ ploy to me.

Naked pandering to the blood thirsty political base.

Well, he may be the smartest of the Bush boys, but thatā€™s a pretty low bar obviously. It just goes to show how laughable his contention that he is his own man regarding foreign policy. He has surrounded himself with some of the worst of the neocons, PNAC people all the way. And they are hell bent to return to the Middle East and finishing implementing their Grand Design. So JEB just nods his head and goes out in front of the cameras and repeats what they tell him.

Plus the Bush family Patrons, the House of Saud, is involved in an actual shooting war, so he is desperate to get American troops over there for that.

What a smarmy asshole. End of campaign right here.

I think Hillary Clinton will not take kindly to Jeb Bush putting foreign policy words in her mouth. She was after all Secretary of State, and that State wasnā€™t just Florida.

More like an overdone pop-up tart.

Did anyone else notice he said two completely different things.

  1. Would he invade Iraq knowing what he knows NOW. He says yes, which is just beyond stupid and reckless.

The next. completely different rationale

  1. So would everyone else given the intelligence at the time. So which is it? Would he do it knowing what he and we know know or do it based on the faulty, bogus, and made up intelligence at the time. In other words, would he too lie to the American people and Congress in order to engage in never ending war?

ā€œSmartest of the Bush boysā€ is not saying much. The entire familyā€™s collective IQ does not seem to be over 70.

Heā€™s not making a policy statement. That rantā€™s about getting his brother off the hook for a cataclysmic fiasco by suggesting anyone would have done it.

Hillary Clinton was not itching for a war with Iraq like GW was or Jeb would have been. That was a family thing and unfortunately we had a POTUS from that family of ā€œbeautiful mindsā€ and draft dodgers that cared little about the lives of the ā€˜little peopleā€™ā€¦that is Americaā€™s little people. Hench GW looked for, cherry picked and ignored ā€œintelligenceā€ as he needed in order to justify a war that was going to happen no matter what.

No one else other than the Bushā€™s would have the mendacity to manipulate intelligence, the ā€˜could not care lessā€™ attitude for American and Iraqi lives and the lust to do it at any cost. I believe Jeb would have done it. I donā€™t think anyone else would have and he and FOX know that.

There is also the minor issue that Iraq is old history and we know a lot more about the run up than Jeb thinks we do. There was a boat load of intell that was spot on but his fucking brother and ignored it. HRC or anyone else would not have done that. You had to grow up with Barbara telling you how special you were to do that. Hillary had no Barbaraā€¦Jeb did.
