Regardless of the shooter’s actions or words, describing his exact intentions, Jeb does not know what was on his mind or heart. This is willful ignorance at its finest, all just to continue the Republican prevarication that racism is no longer an issue in this country.

economic agenda. This works because, despite voting against their own
best interests, they have created a whole structure dependent upon
Bigotry to get people to vote for them. Think about it- the GOP and
their supporters create depressed economic situations so that they can
make more money, they then claim that this is happening because Others
are taking away their jobs…oh and you’re not safe in your homes
because Others are dangerous thuggish criminals who we must lock up
forever (not noting that doing so allows for a free labor pool)…oh and
these Others over here are working when they should be raising children
and thus creating more social woes…and these Others here are icky and
gross and have sex that will tempt your spouse to leave you if it’s
legal.

Republican politicians remind me of the rabbits in the warren in Watership Down that’s surrounded by snares. They are well-fed by the man who sets the snares, so they stay in the warren, but nobody will say a word about the snares because then they’d have to admit the nature of their bargain.
Even Jeb Bush, at the comparatively sane end of the GOP, cannot admit that racism is still a real problem for persons of color in America. Because once they admit that, they would have to do something about it, and that would alienate much of their base.
