Discussion: Jeb Bush: Huckabee's Holocaust 'Oven' Comment 'Is Just Wrong'

Discussion for article #238808

Saying Jeb! is “one of the more moderate candidates in the Republican field” isn’t saying much…

Just wrong?
Is that all Jeb?

Not demostrably stupidly wrong
Or
Fecklessly wrong? Feckless being the new “big word” in republican circles these days after the Des Moines Register’s use of the word.

Ironic from a Bush, no?

the fact that it is a complete 180 from what he previously advocated would end his candidacy, if he weren’t a member of that clown party.

“The use of that kind of language is just wrong,” Wow, what a courageous stand!

“It’s not the first time Bush, one of the more moderate candidates in the Republican field…”

Please, spare us your fucking analysis. This isn’t an AP article. Its from a TPM reporter pretending to be an AP reporter I think. Just because Bush isn’t hanging from a fucking chandelier and flinging his poo like the rest of the GOP wannabes, doesn’t make him a moderate. His tone may be less caustic, but his policies as Governor were as rightwing crazy as the rest of these assholes running for President.

It disturbs me that every time one of the nuts job spews, when one of the other says, “that wasn’t a nice thing to say…but I respect him”.

Really, why would you respect someone that is and says completely foolish things?

Huckabee’s no more a candidate than he has been in previous elections. He’s just pretending to run while soaking up the publicity he needs to keep his windbag radio and TV career alive. In the unlikely event he makes it into the early debates, we’ll see his “candidacy” flame out and he’ll go right back to the Tea Party media where he belongs.

I like…Bush, one of the skinniest and most cosmetically glamorized of the candidates…
Or…Bush, one of the few candidates in tailored underwear…
Or…Bush, one of the few candidates who can slice olives with his manicure…
Or, Bush, one of the more comically diabolical candidates…

It almost makes you wonder whether these guys are running for president of the US or of Israel.

Bush gains by sounding more reasonable. He’s competing with Rubio, Kasich, Fiorona, Graham and Christie for the relatively non-fruitcake vote. None of thsoe but Bush and Rubio have any real support.

Meanwhile, the crazies are looking to flip between Walker, Trump, Cruz, Huckabee and— the rest just as they did for Newt, Smegma, Cain, Bachmann et al in '12. Walker needs the other crazies to deflate; else, the not-completely-insane will win the nomination again.

Well, someone doesn’t want to be Donald Trump’s VP. Tsk, tsk, tsk Jeb. You’re never going to win the Wingnut Cup (i.e. GOP Nomination) like that.

Hypothesis: in order to win the White House, the GOP will ultimately need to present a candidate who can win the red and purple states, and maybe poach a few votes from the blue constituencies.

By dialing up the crazy to eleven now (Trump, Cruz, Huckabee), the GOP is moving the Overton Window as far to the right as possible, so that when the clown car candidates do drop out, the party has a candidate who looks moderate by comparison, regardless of the fact that he’s as reactionary as any of them.

“This is not the way we’re going to win elections and that’s not how
we’re going to solve problems. So, unfortunate remark — not quite sure
why he felt compelled to say it.”

Jebya is right about that, they are not going to win this election and this type of comment is part of the reason why.
