Discussion: Jeb Bush Flip-Flops On Indiana Anti-Gay Law: 'We Shouldn’t Discriminate'

Discussion for article #234949

Faster than the speed of bigotry…the REpublicans cave on the Indiana law!

“I just think once the facts are established, people aren’t going to see this as discriminatory at all," he said.

That didn’t happen, so JEB did a flip-flop.

“By the end of the week, I think Indiana will be in the right place,
which is to say that we need in a big diverse country like America, we
need to have space for people to act on their conscience, that it is a
constitutional right that religious freedom is a core value of our
country," the potential presidential candidate said.

You know, it’s one thing to start etch-a-sketching during the general but when you have to start doing it before the primary, things just aren’t going to go well.

And I have no doubt that his Silicon Valley donors gave him an ultimatum if he wanted their cash.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Wednesday reportedly backpeddled on his support for Indiana's new "religious freedom" law protecting the right to deny certain services to gay couples.

Why can’t they just DO THE RIGHT THING? But no… money dictated what they need to do and they caved…

once the facts are established

OMG, facts and a flip flop!?!?!!?
Why doesn’t he just stand before ‘reporters’ and kiss a picture of President Obama?

Jeb, what’s your current position on government getting involved in personal family medical disputes concerning end of life issues?
Have you flipped on that yet? I’m sure you would just as soon close the door on that ugly deed you pulled as Governor of Florida during this election cycle. Turned out you were making a living corpse suffer needlessly. Did you ever apologize to Terry’s husband for the hell you put him through?

the few remaining jackholes still supporting this law claim it doesn’t say a word about discrimination against gays. Technically, they are right. But Tony Perkins of the American Family Ass’n (one of the major supporters of this and similar bills) knows damn well what it’s meant for. He has stated publicly that the bill is meant not to deny gays a hotel room or a seat on a plane, but rather so that bakers don’t have to face any legal consequences for refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding or a photographer doesn’t have to face any legal consequences for refusing to shoot pictures at a gay wedding.

If that isn’t enough to put the lie to this nonsense, remember that the ‘citizenship test’ laws used in the Jim Crow south to deny the vote to African-Americans had not one word in them about black folks. But everyone knew what those laws were for and how they were used.
