“He’s got an opinion. He didn’t talk to me,”
Reading between the lines…He was high or coming down from one of his out of control rages.
who cares what the kid says… he’s got his own grooming to focus on. dad is just playing coy; he’ll run as he sits back and watches while the rest of the gop offerings flame out. and then, banking on the name recognition and less extreme tendencies, will come riding to rescue…
I don’t even remember any episode of The Twilight Zone being as terrifying and mind-boggling as the prospect of electing another member of the Bush family to the presidency.
“Same as I’ve always said,” Jeb concluded. "There’s nothing new here.”
Got that right, Jebbie.
What they want us to say is: What a crude psychological ploy, eh?
This an interesting Kabuki dance in the public eye. But really, what leadership does Jeb have to offer? What is his take on the current political realities, and what would his goals be–complete annihilation of the opposing party–or collaboration? Because collaboration, to the Republicans, means what it did to the French during WWII. What could he hope to accomplish? What does he WANT to accomplish? Does he want anything, beyong the pomp and circumstance, and making his Pop proud? I mean, what’s he going to do for you and me?
His son was trying to boost his own candidacy in Texas. I still say that Jeb Bush is not going to run.
Right. Until he announces his decision, he will continue to do absolutely nothing which is necessary to run a successful campaign and he will continue to say things that infuriate large portions of the Republican electorate necessary to gain the nomination. It’s an Act of Love, don’t you know it.
The one where the kid talked on the play phone with his dead gradma was pretty scary. Comes close.
If he runs he’ll be to 2016 what Rudy Guiliani and Fred Thompson were to 2008. If the GOP doesn’t take the Senate, the TP will wage on an all out war on the moderates and he’ll have even fewer reasons to run. On the other hand, if the GOP takes the Senate and acts a fool, shutting down the government, blocking Obama at every turn, they’ll have so damaged the brand that he wouldn’t be able to win the general election.
It is a bit of Kabuki, especially when you consider that Christie, arguably his biggest competitor for the moderate/money wing of the GOP, has been making lots of headlines lately…and not about his legal woes.
Suddenly Jeb’s son pops up and puts Jebs potential candidacy back in the news.
Look for Rand to do or say something before too much longer as well. Can’t be letting those competitors hog all the spot light.
And as for what to a 3rd Bush term would provide? Well, consider the long, deep and twisted relationship the Bush family has with the House of Saud, and the previous two Bushes were jonny on the spot to help clean up a dangerous neighbor for them, and given the current turmoils in the Middle East are not the Saud families likings, it’s not a huge leap to conclude that we will have boots on the ground within 12 months of him taking office.
true dat…
Oh, he most definitely is in the game now. As I said downstream, this little tidbit slipped because Christie has been getting a lot of press lately.
Christie has a long way to go, and was starting in a deep hole even before the bridge scandal, but he is the person most likely to challenge Bush for the establishment/non TP wing of the party. The fact that he had his son drop this one out there to remind everyone that he is still here, show pretty clearly that he is keeping a very close tabs on things.
What he is waiting to see, is exactly what you said. He wants to see how things look after the election. Its not that he won’t run if the Senate goes the self destructive route (they will quite often; they have already basically said they will. The interactions between this House and a GOP Senate will be quite rife with friction however), it just means the Bush cartel has to take certain steps to “make a more favorable environment”.
Right now, Jeb is lining up the inside people and quietly making the donor ring kissing rounds. But I have no doubt that 100% of his focus is on the campaign.
George P., George W., and George H.W. were supportive of and pushing for a Jeb 2016 candidacy.
So phucking many bushes, so little time.
