the conservative base would be working themselves into a frothing frenzy if Hillary had gotten in, and allowed Chelsea and her husband free reign of the White House. IOKIYAR

No life more privileged than Jared Kushner… Daddy bought him a spot in Harvard: Harvard’s admissions of gilt Now father in law gets him a job in government…

Of course he will forego a salary. That would be redundant.

He should not be allowed to take advantage of any other government benefits, inc. transportation and lodging, security, media, etc. … yeah, sure.

A 1967 anti-nepotism law states that public officials may not “appoint, employ, promote, [or] advance” a relative.

Kushner’s lawyer, Jamie Gorelick, said Kushner’s eligibility to serve was “not a close question.”

I’m not even a lawyer, but even I can tell you that HO appointing son-in-law to a position–paid or not–still breaks that 1967 law. Please consider this a freebie … because I wouldn’t get paid anyway. Amirite?

So challenge it in court if this qualifies as “nepotism,” or if this is being done so he can promote business deals?

“The Justice Department has described this authority as ‘unfettered’ and ‘sweeping,’” she told Bloomberg, referring to the president’s authority to hire who they want for their administration.

Bet they haven’t.

Unless maybe it’s buried in that IC report next to the conclusion that Russian hacking had no effect on the election outcome.

The feeling you get when Daddy-in-law is
about to make you a multi-billionaire?

Priceless!

Yeah, the law (5 U.S. Code §3110) is pretty straight forward: “[The President] may not appoint, employ, promote, advance, or advocate for appointment, employment, promotion, or advancement, in or to a civilian position in the agency in which he is serving or over which he exercises jurisdiction or control any individual who is a relative of the public official.”

The statute is silent on the question of whether monetary compensation is a required element of nepotism and I don’t feel like taking the time to research any regulations, administrative rules or cases. Even if Kushner divests himself of his interests in the family business he would still be in a position to benefit the business and I would expect they would be happy to let him “buy” back in after he leaves Trumpsylvania, probably in consideration for past services rendered.

Hmm… not claiming to be an historian but I do recall that there were certain camp guards who were also “unpaid”. They received special treatment, at least up to a point, and it was said that many of them were far more cruel and inhumane than their paid counterparts.

Just sayin’…

OK I may be naïve or stupid but I don’t like this unpaid shit. If you are working for We the People then We the People should pay you. You, or your bank account is receive compensation for a job or a title then We the People can hold you accountable. Sitting around Daddy Trump’s office and looking at comes across his desk so you can use that info later is unacceptable.
Beside there’s that old saying you get what you pay for and if you pay nothing for it then it’s shit.

Drumpf will be receiving one dollar a year for his “services”.

Just sayin’.

though, like daddy-in-law, it will never fill the void in his soul from the elite in NYC considering him a clown nor will it make up for him only getting into Harvard because his dad bought his admission.

Yeah I’m pissed about that too, but if he received the regular salary how much you want to bet it would be garnished or mess up some other form of tax evasion he has going on?

Un-huh. And he’ll be donating the rest of the money to charity. ROTFLMAO

How can a top advisor announce today also trying to get a business deal with a foreign company that probably is close to the Chinese government. My GOD, what the hell is going on, the Trump family is cashing in our election for their private benefit.

Given that Kushner has zero experience regarding federal government activity, or anything having to do with the White House and its areas of responsibility, I find it hard to see what value he brings to this, other than as the ultimate insider with Trump and one of the few people Trump totally trusts. His value is nil as far as the government is concerned.

On the other hand, Kushner can reap a lot of benefit - both financial and influence - from this position that will lead to financial rewards to him and his wife going forward. This is all part of the ultimate con job
