Discussion: Jared Kushner questioned by Robert Mueller's team about Michael Flynn

I don’t know how much exculpation went on but if you put me on that grand jury I’d indict Kushner himself based on that facial expression alone. Innocent people just trying to be constructive members of society do not go around smirking like that.

5-to-1 odds Jared tried to outsmart Mueller’s team in the interview.

"The person said Wednesday that the questioning of Kushner earlier this month took about 90 minutes or less and was aimed in part at establishing whether Kushner had any information on Flynn that might be exculpatory. "

That sentence doesn’t really make any sense, unless my understanding of the word exculpatory is wrong. I mean, first off…who exactly is the potential defendant, Flynn or Kushner?

No, I suspect this is coming from the Jared camp, in an effort to spin the PR that they are only talking to Kushner to confirm things they know on the “bad” people, not because Kushner is under investigation himself.

Which would be completely in keeping in how he has treated all of this…as one big PR stunt, and not a criminal investigation.

Perpetual smirk. I do wonder if he also wore that Abercrombie/flak jacket combo, that’s all I think of when I see him. That and John Oliver dubbing his voice with Gilbert Gottfried’s voice.

Keeping in mind that the answers to the questions are probably known by the interrogators.

He might as well wear one at the trial. Nobody will ever see him any other way anyway. It’s like Dukakis’s helmet.

True. Out of idle curiosity, I am wondering if Jared has his eyebrows done by the same person who does Ivanka’s.

Well, did the interview exculpate Mr Kushner or not? His defense attorney, almost certainly the source here, left out important details for this story.

I would note that some are interviewed all day, like Sean Spicer, while Mr Kushner a very short time, even while Mr Kushner is more central to many parts of the investigation. See reference for Spicer: https://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/17/sean-spicer-mueller-russia-probe-243882?tab=most-read

So, was that 90 minutes because Kushner was so cooperative, or Mr Mueller wants to come back when Mr. Kushner refreshes his memory? And would Mr. Flynn’s cooperation trigger a memory refresh for Mr. Kushner?

I do think the Mr. Kushner’s defense attorney left out more than a bit.

I would tend to agree with you. It is also possible that Mueller’s team already had the answers and wanted to find out if JK would lie AGAIN. The answer would be yes…yes he would.

THEN he would file papers saying “Ever time I said “yes” I really meant “no” and vice versa. I hope this clears up any confusion.”

That seems to be the general tone of the entire family over all of the issues.

[/quote]The smirk will serve him well at trial. Jurors like that kind of thing from rich assholes. (I know, it’s not likely he’ll go to trial…but, it’s such a nice thought)

Look, the fact that this article is trying to spin it as if Kushner was being consulted as merely a witness, is a huge tell.

We pretty much can go on the assumption that Flynn is cooperating and providing evidence/testimony at this point.

Any questioning of Kushner (or anybody else) regarding Flynn, is to feel out how the other targets react to the evidence that Mueller now has from Flynn regarding their OWN culpability. For example

Q: “Did you and General Flynn have a meeting with Ambassador Kisylak concerning setting up a private back channel on this date?” "

A: “Oh yes, it was all Flynn’s idea”

Q: “So you discussed the meeting with Flynn prior to attending?”

A: “Oh yes, it was his idea to have me ask the question, too”

Jared will spin that as merely asking him as a witness about the bad things Flynn did. The reality is, they just confirmed Jared was an active participant in a conspiracy regarding that meeting.

Remember, the ability to get their stories straight, particularly with regards to the details ( and its ALL about the details), is gone now. They can’t even discuss the basic outlines of their stories through their lawyers anymore. And Kushner is a pathological liar. He WILL slip up.

But then, there are other methods.

I agree that the source of this story is almost certainly one of Jared’s lawyers. But it seems weird to me that the purpose of Mueller’s questioning Jared would be to see if he had “exculpatory” information about Flynn. (That was how I read the statement – exculpatory information about Flynn, not Kushner.) Presumably, Flynn would have sought to exculpate himself, and whatever information he had that would tend to exculpate him, he surely would have provided that to Mueller. So was Mueller questioning Jared for the limited purpose of checking Flynn’s story?

Smells like a perjury trap. 90 minutes was probably all it took for him to hang himself, then the Feebs stood up, shook hands and said “We’ll be in touch Mr. Kushner.”
