Deflection —
And not even very good at it —
He already promised to release them. It is SOP for prexy candidates. Speech transcripts? that’s something new and never required of any other candidate. Jane Sanders is just plain sketchy. The whole saga of her departure as president of a small college in VT is pretty smelly too.
Jane Sanders is a tool too…
So, in order to do what all candidates in the past have done, she’s demanding that Hillary do what no other candidate has been asked to do and none are even promising to do, ever, even if Hillary does?
Can’t wait for these two to exit the stage. Bernie has completely ruined all of the good feelings I’ve had about him for years.
Great. So she wants to be Romney now? Remember him? Romney? The guy who said “I won’t release my tax returns, even though Obama released his, unless Obama releases his college transcripts?” Because that totally made sense and in no way was indicative of someone with something to hide, right?
I mean, FFS, we’ve been listening to Sanders’ supporters and surrogates insisting for months that Hillary’s failure to release “transcripts” of her speeches to whoever (because I’m sure she brings a court reporter or a shorthand secretary to every speech to do that) proves that there’s some dark and campaign crushing secret buried in them, but we’re not supposed to draw the same inference from this transparent dodge?
I mean, not that it matters, but it’s galling as hell coming from the people who are constantly holding themselves up as the moral paragons of socialist righteousness.
If she is claiming that HRC has something to hide by not releasing her speech transcripts, then do they have something to hide in their tax returns. I highly doubt it but the reasoning is ridiculous
My sentiments exactly
Senator & Ms Sanders and Secretary Clinton need to stop trying to imitate the childishness of Trump and his gang.
To borrow from the Civil Rights movement: Keep your eyes on the prize guys! And the prize is a Democrat in the White House!
At least she didn’t demand that Hillary release her college transcripts before releasing their tax returns, though this makes almost as much sense.
I’m ready to kick the field goal, Coach, but who can keep track of those moving goal posts?
Stop it with the both sides crap. Hillary isn’t being unreasonable but the Sanders camp is.
They demand that Hillary do what no other candidate does while they refuse to do what every other candidate does.
Boy, that TurboTax must be really tricky.
And of course, she’s overlooking the fact that there is a long-standing tradition that candidates for President release years of tax returns. But all of a sudden, this year and this year only, the release of transcripts of speeches given by a private citizen is somehow a requirement?
Will she be demanding Hillary’s long-form birth certificate next?
Get this woman off air. She’s a disaster.
Well, except of course you-know-who.
Wow. You’re right, @ncsteve. Aside from Sanders’ hypocrisy & goalpost moving (on taxes vs transcripts), the tit-for-tat demand uncannily resembles Romney’s transcript bullshit. And it’s particularly obnoxious because his whole schtick is supposed to be moral high ground.
I really didn’t want to end up angry at Sanders & his naive, self-righteous supporters, but he’s really not being a gracious loser. I better stop now before stirring the pot further.
Its the rental properties on the Tax return…she doesn’t want you to see the fun and games there…
At this point, forget it. Really, forget it. Sanders is well and truly done. This is so far from presidential material it doesn’t make for good comedy. As ncsteve points out, this didn’t work well for Mittens either and it puts Dear Leader in a very shaky position (to put it mildly).
Time for the hook and get these two fools offstage.
What a childish thing to say. She’s way out her league here and this does not a gracious First Lady make.
Not fond of this woman from how she has presented herself thus far.
In a little less than 24 hours no one is going to care about Bernie’s tax returns, or Hill’s Wall Street speeches.
