Discussion: Jane Sanders Says Husband's NY Daily News Interview Was Like 'An Inquisition' (VIDEO)

So journalists pressing him for in-depth explanations and answers on how he would do the things he campaigns on is now like an infamous episode of torture in history?

Are you shitting me?

Does she have a clue what the job is her hubby is running for?

Man, that’s some Palin-grade gotcha!-media-conspiracy BS right there.

What would a real inquisition look like anyhow? Hint: BenghazI-something hearing-amajigs?

Then Prez Bernie responded to Putin by yelling that he is gonna break up the banks and that Hillary has poor jusgement. Putin was frightened away.
Then the Prez got a token and road the subway home.

Yes, the part of the interview where Jane said she hasn’t been home much from the campaign trail and doesn’t remember where she put their taxes, etc. was downright uncomfortable to watch.

I hope you threw that mic down girlfriend! That was excellent!

Whiners to the left of me, Whiners to the right. All of them need to shut up.

Every time the Sanders campaign complains that ā€˜she started it’ or ā€˜it was an inquisition’ I think of Hillary sitting through 11 hours of the Trey Gowdy clown show.

"We didn’t realize they had planned to release the transcript.

What did Bernie think they were going to do with it? Save it for his memoirs?! It’s the New York Daily News. It’s a newspaper.

What do they think would happen when the gop starts going after him… That interview should have been a walk in the park for him…I guess when people ask for details that’s when things get tough.

The fact that Bernie is taken aback by follow up questions indicates …

a) How incredibly coddled he’s been as a candidate by the National Press. The New York Daily News interview made headlines because it until APRIL before he was actually vetted by members of the press. (In contrast, Hillary is grilled for 11 hours under oath by hostile and unapologetically open political GOP Congress Panel desperate for a Benghazi soundbyte, and barely breaks a sweat)

b) How incredibly unprepared he is to be President of the United States.

Also, Sanders’ proposals aren’t unequivocally good by any stretch. My taxes would go up under Sanders, but I’ve already gone through college and have employer-provided healthcare that I don’t have to contribute to at all out of my wages. I would lose out pretty big under the Sanders plan.

Well, the thread could have ended with Plucky’s comment, frankly.

Nobody expects the Daily News inquisition!*

(*Except for anyone running for President, they should expect it…)

putting your personal tax situation to one side, I will say this - running on a big tax and spend platform all the time is what put us into the loser’s bracket presidentially speaking, for a number of elections.

I’d just like to stand up for the Spanish Inquisition here. There were a shitload of Inquisitions , but through sheer determination (and plenty of plain termination for that matter) The SI has stood the test of time and is the one we remember. Comparing it to some questions being asked is belittling and disrespects the dedicated work of EITP’s everywhere.

*enhanced interrogation technique practioners.

You know who else spent 11 hours being grilled by Senators? Anita Hill. HBO movie called Confirmation on Saturday starring Kerry Washington is all about it,

I sent a reply to Judis’ via talk@talkingpointsmemo. I dashed it off immediately – but here is the gist of it, (edited) below:

Judis’ argument reminds me too much of the flawed logic of many Nader voters in 2000. They assumed they were safe voting for Nader because they never expected him to win. Upholding their principles was an easy call because they were confident they could count on all the rest of us morally compromised democrats to vote for Gore and carry the day. And now I’m seeing the lesson is still not learned. Judis counts on rest of us to vote for HRC in the primary so he doesn’t have to. As a professional political writer he should assume that his comments have the power to sway others – why else would he bother? I sincerely hope we will have enough voters to make up the difference and oblige him his conceit. If numerous such foolish votes are cast and cause us to have a contested convention, its going to make it that much more difficult for democrats unify and prevail in November.
