“I’m sorry that my face got in the way of Ray’s punch.”

That this woman seems like an intelligent person who loves her husband and wants to make their marriage work only illustrates how deep is the socialization in which women (and occasionally men) who are victims of spousal and relationship abuse are conditioned to believe that they played some culpable role in what happened.

And as for the Ravens, let’s put them on the same list with the Washington R________s.

Exactly right! Victims of abuse of any form should never be in a position to apologize.

The Ravens should issue an immediate apology to HER for their rank insensitivity and ignorance of the issue of spousal abuse. They are nuts!

Before too long she will be able to apologize from her place in the cemetary.

How ridiculous is your statement? You don’t know dick about their relationship at the present time. She has forgiven him, they are in therapy and working it out, they have a child together and I for one and glad he won his case and I hope he gets re-hired. People are entitled to second chances.

I am an animal activist and I wanted to choke Michael Vick’s neck for dog fighting but at least he has tried to make amends for what he did and he has tried to do good things in the name of animals.

Wouldn’t it be nice if people simply apologized for the things they did specifically, instead of for ‘the whole situation’? Janay makes it seem like she’s just as culpable for being rendered unconscious by her husband as she is for spitting on him. Last I checked, only one of those actions actually can result in jail time in our legal system.

All I know is that as a 60 year old white guy, I know better than Janay Rice what’s best for Janay Rice, and this isn’t it. Heck, I even taught a Women’s Studies course once. Really!

Interesting to come forward with this the day before an arbitrator issues a decision about whether Adrian Peterson’s labor rights are being violated.

(I suspect the decision in that case will be to keep Peterson off the field throughout the rest of the year since Peterson can’t argue that he’s having money withheld against the collective bargaining agreement. Then he ships off to Oakland, Dallas, or whoever else doesn’t mind baggage.)

Frgive me, chammy, but i’ve seen way too many athletes who have been coddled all their lives and
as a consequence feel that anything they do is o.k. with the rest of us. I’ve become somewhat jaded
in my old age. Your altruism is duly noted, but my cynicism will remain until I see proof. Sorry.

She got within striking distance unfortunately but that is just physics.

Regardless, the Ravens Organization and especially Goodell are on the shitlist for eternity.

Ray Rice is scarred for life, financially very well set, but scarred all the same. This isn’t the first couple to go through this but possibly the highest profile.
