Gotta admit, this is one helluva defense.
If they can find a wayward bullet and match it to guns he has access to. he may be in trouble.

His father though, is in trouble, charged not only with four misdemeanor counts of disturbing the peace but also two felony counts of being a felon in possession of a gun. Alfred Baria Jr. said the rifle and pistol were his, and he didn’t realize that his father, previously convicted on drug charges, couldn’t be anywhere on the property with them.

Um. Shouldn’t a “responsible” gun owner know this…???

Cousin Vinny and Mona Lisa Vito would of course point out that this Isuzu was not capable of backfiring because, as the lovely Lisa would explain, this Isuzu has fuel injection and everybody knows that fuel injection makes it 99.99% impossible to cause a backfire because there’s no carb.

FI cars may be less prone than carbs but they can also backfire, especially an older one that’s been poorly maintained.

This is a totally great video. I learned a lot, and those armed thugs threatening the truck guy need this course in reasons for backfires! I laughed during the video, considering how law enforcement can be SO screwed up anymore. Thanks for posting this educational lesson on TPM.

Giving the dude the benefit of the doubt (for now), compare this with the incident where a black couple’s car backfired going past a police station. Cops chased them down, one jumped on the car’s hood and shot them 15-20 times through the windshield. Naturally, he was exonerated.

Yes but it’s ok because a legal gun owner with a gun can always take out a felon with a gun.
