And so now John Kelly has lowered himself into the Trumpian mire, casting aspersions on the press and making vague claims about their allleged inaccuracy.
Once again, the rule holds true – no one works for Trump without having their dignity and credibility stripped away. Trump is the universal solvent for anything related to honor and integrity – plunge into the Trumpian mire, and watch your reputation dissolve into the muck.
How about you get better morals, general, and do the right thing? This man is sick and you know it.

This Kelly scolding has a protesteth-too-much feel. He wouldn’t have been considered for the job if he didn’t have an idea of how things are done in DC. Kinda like Trumps “I sure hate Russians” phase.

Why did this detail not make it into the original reports? Kinda important.
A really good follow up question would’ve been: Can you name a several things we’ve gotten wrong?
This must be frustrating for the reporters, in that they know who their sources are, and they know how highly-placed they are and so on. Whereas presumably Kelly doesn’t know who is leaking this stuff. But the reporters cannot reveal their sources. So Kelly is free to speculate that these sources are all low-level employees just gossiping. (And the same applies to Trump’s cruder version, where the sources don’t even exist, they’re just “made up.”)
To some extent that’s always going to be the dynamic with anonymously sourced reports. But directly denying a specific report that in reality is accurate runs the risk of getting caught if other evidence comes out, or if the source later decides to go on the record. Which is why Kelly made his accusations so vague. He declined to deny any specific report, instead engaging in a sweeping generalization.
Okay, fire all of the current cabinet secretaries and nominate people who are actually competent, then we’ll have better sources. Not our fault your White House sucks.

That is exactly how I interpreted Kelly’s comments today. He not only echoed Trump’s policies (which I would expect him to do), but he seemed to almost delight in endorsing Trump’s dishonesty and incoherence and irrational “blaming.”
