Why wasnât she gunned down when she pointed the gun at police?
Police said Shields, blonde and wearing body armor, raced through the neighborhood, past well-manicured lawns and simple brick houses, firing multiple shots out her window at people and cars.
She was just âpreppingâ on how to make it home when caught in a bad neighborhood during a riot.
Why wasnât she gunned down when she pointed the gun at police?
I hate to be rude, but didnât you see the picture of the shooter?
It appears that neither of us want to say it out loud.
Could it be possible that Chattanooga PD are less trigger happy than other departments? Could it be that police officers are in general less prone to shoot middle aged and possibly drunk women than your average young male? I donât think that implying she was not shot dead or injured because she is white serves you well.
Could it be that the blazing bond hair and pasty pink skin blinded the police and kept them from shooting?
Six Chattanooga Cops, 59 Shots, One Thoroughly Dead Black Man
Alonzo Heyward carried a rifle around his low-rent neighborhood one day last month, ranting about suicide and ignoring the pleas of friends for hours before six Chattanooga police officers surrounded him on his front porch and decided it had to end.
His father says Heyward told the officers, âIâm not out here to hurt anybody.â
But the police, who tried unsuccessfully to disarm Heyward, fired 59 rounds to kill him on July 18. The medical examiner found 43 bullet wounds in his chest, face, arms, hands, legs, buttocks and groin. Police contend Heyward was a danger to others and threatened the six officers.
Chattanooga police spokeswoman Jerri Weary described the case as âsuicide by cop.â
The cops were happy to oblige.
Itâs weird that for the second time recently, after posting a comment, for a little while I canât reply or post comments. I have to log out and and then log back in to post. Very strange.
Anyway, the link you posted states that: âPolice said the officers tried but failed to disarm Heyward with a stun gun. Weary said Heyward ignored repeated commands to drop the rifle and officers fired when they felt threatened by the way he moved it.â On the other hand details about this woman arrest are scant. Perhaps two different scenarios?
On the contrary, facing up to racial discrimination is a good thing. It is rather the denial of the possibility of racism that doesnât serve a citizen well.
Funny how they always feel threatened by black males to the point where they respond with lethal force. Quite a contrast with the white woman -in full body armor- who actually pointed a gun at police AFTER having already fired her gun at others.
I was watching âCaught on Cameraâ on MSNBC last night and one segment that stuck in my mind was this 30 something white male getting riddled with bullets by cops after he fired at them. The cops stopped him for some traffic violation and the guy just exited his pick up truck and began shooting at police. Then he proceeded to board his truck again and thatâs when the hail of bullets killed him. He was a young white male. Again, the details of this woman arrest are very scant and for all that we know so far she could have got scared after pointing the gun at police and dropped it when requested. We just donât know. Jumping to conclusions doesnât help.
