Discussion: It Begins: Special Counsel Mueller Files First Charges In Russia Investigation

I’m just wondering if this will be a marquee player or a minor leaguer. Does he start off with a bang or work his way up the food chain?

Crickets chirping at The New York Times and The Washington Post. Why is this not front-page, headline news?

I’m guessing that they’re trying to confirm it and trying desperately to find some way to extend the story. But yes, this does seem odd.

I had a tragi-funny conversation with an older Russian a couple of days ago----very smart professor at the university I’m visiting (leaving today).
He said that older Russians could tell from looking at Hillary that she was a crook. Ha ha ha.

On the other hand, it’s pretty easy to look at Putin and know that he’s a six-cylinder, Karla-trained hood.

Oh yeah. He was also saying he’s in favor of cracking down on illegal immigrants–“Russian immigrants believe in following the law”.
Except when it comes to respecting national boundaries. He’s all in favor of Russia taking back Crimea.

That is effing BRILLIANT!

My guess is that the first indictment is Flynn. But I also think there is a pretty good likelihood that there are multiple indictments that have already been returned but Mueller will unseal based on his arrest schedule.

It has been quite satisfying to see the MSM and GOP go down in flames this week. The MSM went out on the limb to cover Trump’s distractions on the Steele Dossier and Uranium gate and now clearly look like they were played. Jake Tapper admitted that and seemed to subtly tweak his colleagues like Dana Bash - who decided she wanted to be the new Halperin for chair of hackery. Combining this with the Halperin debacle really exposed the rampant, pro-GOP, pro-profit, racist, sexist rot that is the US media. There would not have been an Iraq war but for the MSM. There would not have even been a Bush II presidency but for the MSM. There would be no Trump but for them.

As for the GOP, I had felt that they had walked into a trap. They took on the Steele Dossier as their obsession because of Trump’s obsession with its claims of “Russian hookers”. GOP knows it can’t defend Trump against conspiracy w/Russians. They’re just trying to whip up a storm of phony outrage to find some way to end the probes. Now, after the indictments come down, the GOP can either demand an end to the rule of law and the imposition of a dictatorship, or follow the rule of law. Many GOPers will want to get ahead of this and out anti-Trump the Democrats. Others will be afraid of the GOP base. I think the results of the VA/NJ elections will create a blue/purple-red split among GOPers.

The other driver here is McConnell/Ryan and the tax cuts. They are beholden to the Kochs, Adelsons et al. Those guys want to have their cake and eat it too. They will double down on pushing through a big tax cut bill, but when people realize that their SALT deductions and 401k contributions are cut or eliminated the net result is a massive tax increase for most households, even those earning above 200k, it won’t be popular. On top of that when people see the medicare/medicaid cuts it will cause the ship to hit the iceberg.

The simpler move would be for McConnell to cut a deal with Dems but they’ll never do that. I think the tax cut will either be sharply pared back or fail altogether. With Team Trump facing indictments, I think it’s an uncertain environment for the majority party.

Comments from elsewhere in the fever swamp:

The lib-flakes are huddling in a corner somewhere, waiting for the announcement. They’re about to witness their gods being toppled.

Ridiculous. If anyone should face charges it’s Hillary or Obama. These charges are meant to be a distraction from all of the illegal, treasonous seeds of Hillary coming to light.

Even if every single person in the Trump admin colluded with Russia to win the election it’s still not ILLEGAL. Collusion is NOT illegal you muggy little syes.

Well we know he can’t charge trump because he wasn’t in government when they sold putin 20% US uranium and he didn’t pay Russians 6 million dollars for a dirty dossier on himself

You can thank Soros and this his cultural marxist cronies for that. Those are the same people who are trying to bring down President Trump! Very sick people trying to destroy our world enouraging PC and favourising the “dangerous rel igion”. Mueller is wetting his pants because his investigation is pointless. It’s Clinton/Obama and their allies who need locking up!

OMG. DENIAL. DENIAL. DENIAL. HILLARY GOT TO PRISON HON.

Strange timing giving the uranium one scandal. Mueller needs to step down. He is to deep with the democrats.

A coincidence or a necessary deflection… it seems Mueller is deflecting from the real issues everyone is concerned about, ie the uranium one deal & dirty dossier that has Hillary & the dnc scurrying around lying & looking for excuses

The only concrete collusion that went on was the sale of Uranium to the Russian Intelligence under the guise that we could then do counter - intelligence on them once they own 20% of our Uranium, along with the dossier purchased from Russans for 6 million dollars. 2 business transactions with paper trails leading directly back to Hillary Clinton and her fiIthy democrats.

Setting the liberal snowflakes up for more disappointment on Monday LOL. I’ll be here to watch them cry and melt again LOL

Mueller is up to his eyeballs in the uranium scam. He’ll do anything to keep the heat off that. he should resign, as he is involved too deep with the Clintons.

Trump will embarrass Mueller to the fullest. Mueller will come out with the charges and King Trump will pardon whoever he puts them on and tell Mueller to go build a sand castle - you’re fired.

Clinton’s cohorts are slowly distancing themselves from her since the have an idea of what’s coming. It would be a travesty if Flynn and Manafort were indicted but not the former Secretary of State who accepted a 145 million dollar donation in a pay to play scheme with the Russians when signing off on selling them 20% of US uranium which then mysteriously left the country. This witch hunt is an absolute outrage with Trump turning Mueller down for the directorship of the FBI and firing his buddy Comey - whose FBI paid for part of the fake dossier. Mueller is said to be rigorous and ethical. let’s see if he lives up to his reputation or he is bought and paid for by the Clintons and democrats.

Thought the same, then re-read it as “FBI motto”, i.e., “Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity”.

Neither is Jimmy Carter. He is, however, quietly and deeply religious.
