Discussion: Israeli Military: Air Raid Warning Sirens Go Off In Tel Aviv

Well, I guess Bibi finally got to read the Indictments against him and felt he only has once course left open to him…War.

It has worked for him MANY times in the past and he WILL DO IT AGAIN (if not him, those who support him.)

Good to see TPM is devoting space to discussing Israel. Can we maybe get a follow-up to the accidental air raid siren story with a run down of the number of Palestinians killed so far this year and the circumstances of their deaths?

The phantasmogorical Iron Dome system should just swat those rockets away like flies at a barbeque.
The US has spent a billion dollars on it.

Yeah, but Bibi’s been indicted and needs a distraction.

According to Ha’aretz, one missile was intercepted … for what that’s worth.

Just what is needed, an excuse to vote for more Bibi.

Feh!

Is Hair’netz as reliable a state media source as Faux News? Not terribly familiar with Israeli media.

From Wiki …

Haaretz (Hebrew: הארץ‎) (lit. “The Land [of Israel]”, originally Ḥadashot Ha’aretz – Hebrew: חדשות הארץ‎, IPA: [χadaˈʃot haˈʔaʁets] – “News of the Land [of Israel]”[3]) is an Israeli newspaper. It was founded in 1918, making it the longest running newspaper currently in print in Israel, and is now published in both Hebrew and English in the Berliner format. The English edition is published and sold together with the International New York Times. Both Hebrew and English editions can be read on the Internet. In North America, it is published as a weekly newspaper, combining articles from the Friday edition with a roundup from the rest of the week.

It is known for its left-wing and liberal stances on domestic and foreign issues. As of 2016, the newspaper had a weekday exposure rate of 3.9% in Israel.[4][5] According to the Center for Research Libraries, among Israel’s daily newspapers, “Haaretz is considered the most influential and respected for both its news coverage and its commentary.”[6]

I’m in a hotel about 20 miles from Tel Aviv right now; at the time of this I was out at dinner. Nothing happened at all from my perspective, no news, no one checking their phones and being worried. It may have been different where the sirens went off, but you’d think people would be more on guard if something like that was going on. It’s really weird that I saw the news about this while checking TPM before bed.

Well stay safe, just the same. I’m glad it wasn’t a panicky situation.

The success of Iron Dome has been a long standing lie whose origin started with the US Patriot antimissile system in the Gulf War.

Was the incoming missile’s warhead detonated above ground? “Intercepted” is the BS word that the Israelis have been using with Iron Dome.

The Israel/ Palestinian conflict consumes far more of the world’s attention than is justifiable. When more outrage us directed because of who did something rather than what was down, it becomes ridiculous in short order.

Palestinian deaths in 2018 were 290 people killed by Israeli security forces.

Syrian deaths in 2018 were 20,000 people. https://reliefweb.int/report/syrian-arab-republic/death-toll-syria-falls-2018

You are right, don’t forget Yemen either.
