Not good news.
Israel has already taken a buffer zone that was 150 yards wide and incrementally expanded that kill zone to be 3 km wide. In perspective, there are places where this “buffer zone” is now more than half the width of Gaza.
According to the latest UN report, the buffer zone now comprises 44% of Gaza’s pitifully small area.
And now, with all these escalations, the war will be engulfing the West Bank. The fire is out of control.

What’s funny is that the article doesn’t match the headline–the actual gist of the story is that they may extend the war, while the headline says they will.
As things stand right now according to Jpost, Israel has declared a 12 hour ceasefire for tomorrow.

I’m just curious here–how many Palestinians do you think Israel has killed since 1967? Being “close to Nazis,” it should probably be a lot, right?
On what pretext, I wonder? What could a “broader ground operation” mean? Destroying water mains, sewers and power stations, transmission lines, greenhouses, fishing boats?

Not enough, apparently. Besides the outright killing of Palestinians is only a part of the campaign to get them to self-deport from the West Bank and Gaza. The economic, social, legal and land depredations are the main event.

The “outright killing of Palestinians” in the West Bank and Gaza by Israel over the course of the last 47 years has probably been in the range of 11–12,000. That’s pretty low by the standards of the Holocaust, by the standards of Middle Eastern violence, and even by the standards of violence directed against Palestinians.
Again, not to defend Israel against its actual oppression of Palestinians, but one can condemn Israel without insisting that they are like Nazis. I would say that whatever legitimate criticisms one wishes to make regarding Israel, comparing a regime that has killed 12,000 in 50 odd years to the Nazis is ridiculous.
Maybe they saw the Ninja Turtles movie, and now they don’t feel comfortable around sewers anymore?

A truce to resupply, and clear rubble of what corpses can be found intact enough to ID and bury.
They will need to occupy after this for good.
Sharon’s live birthing Hezbollah’s and Hamas’s two generations of jihaddis must make his country proud.
Eventually, Israel will have to face a sit down with Hamas.
Historically their only long term successes in negotiated truces are with sworn enemies who espouse destruction on the Jewish state.

Actually their successes in terms of peace were with secular moderates who were willing to recognize Israel’s presence in exchange for being able to develop their own country’s while Hamas is made up of religious extremists who would rather see Gaza burn in order to perpetuate a permanent state of war with a state they fundamentally refuse to tolerate.
Israel does need to work out a political solution with the Palestinians, to which end they should be strengthening the PA and working with them.
Not realistic without a wholesale occupation.
